That tree trunk is so interesting! Not the Cedar tree w\the ivy, but the one that looks like a Birch tree has been crossbread with a Douglas Fir!

Rise and shine! Up and Adam!
Hope your knees' feelin' better this morning, as you're sipping your coffee whilst planning your route ! 😉
First race starts at 8am!

I will give you points for persistence! :ROFLMAO:

I liked that tree as soon as I saw it. There's a much better cedar in Discovery Park. I've posted pictures of it before - pointing out how its bark was used for clothing and hats.

Going slightly off topic, I think Google is scary. I decided to search my photos to see if it could find that cedar tree. So I searched for CEDAR. It turned up...

So, not only can it identify items by type but it can also READ the info in the photos!

Yeah that's interesting !;~\ But did it read info from your photo?

Hey speaking of the Cedar River Watershed, have you ever ridden that John Wayne/Iron Horse biking/hiking trail — from Rattlesnake Lake up to Snoqualmie Pass? It may not be open yet this Spring, depending on the snowfall depths. But it's a great ride and a lot of fun; we used to ride it every year.

The easy hike up to Rattlesnake Ridge on Rattlesnake Mountain is nice too.

I bike rode the tunnel many, many years ago. Dark and drippy. Then we continued back throught the tunnel again, and west after the tunnel and the trail just ended in a precipice. No barricade, no warning. Just the then missing bridge over the creek way down below. Obviously, it has since been rebuilt and completed but I've never been back.

Rattlesnake Ledge has been my go-to hike after my right hip was replaced. Actually, both times the right hip was replaced my first hike was Rattlesnake. I've done Annette Lake countless times and I really don't like it much. Now Humpback was an interesting challenge. Straight up. Wasting no time for switchbacks. Mt Si and Granite Mt were regulars. Ollallie Lake and Pratt lake and all the others. Snow Lake in the snow two days before the first hip replaced. Rampart Ridge both the normal trail and the backdoor over incredibly steep terrain. Oh, yes, Snoqualmie Mt a few times as well as Guy Peak. What else.....

But no regatta! Sorry.

I recall sitting in my office in Renton watching trains piled high with snow running along the tracks after descending from Stampede Pass. Also seeing newly manufactured rail cars with consecutive numbers leaving the PacCar factory.
Did you work at the Boeing Renton Plant? My Father did, off & on during his aeronautical engineering career, and at all the other Boeing plants as well.

I guess a branch of the Stampede Pass line came down Maple Valley, huh?
I wonder when that Milwaukee Road line over Snoqualmie Pass was abandoned?

And as I recall, once upon a time, I think there used to be a ski-train that left downtown Seattle > to Tukwila > to Renton > up the Maple Valley > to Snoqualmie Pass, that stopped at the Hyak trainyard on top of the pass. I think that was the ski-train that my Dad proposed to my Mom on, back in the 1950's (unless I'm mis-remembering that); (he was probably in his mid-20's; she a Boeing Secretary I think around 20 yrs old, and a real gorgeous knockout, with those 50's cat-eyed glasses!) The nurses in the Pearl Harbor movie reminded me of pictures of my Mom in her 20's. Wish I had more pictures of them !=(

Each winter weekend during ski season, there was also a train from Seattle > to Everett > up thru the Stevens Pass tunnel > to Leavenworth, where you could enjoy a day of watching the Nordic Ski Jumping competitions. ⛷️ Then in the late afternoon board the waiting train for the trip back to Seattle. It was a lot of fun. We usually made the day trip at least once each winter, for several years. 🚞

Back to bike riding. Up to Edmonds located on the Puget Sound. Mt Baker is a bit over 10,000 feet in elevation and is approximately 100 miles north and near the Canadian Border. Actually, it is a bit under 11,000 feet, well, okay, 10,781 ft (3,286 meters)

Oh, it's really good but I don't really do coffee and only decaf or I lose a night's sleep. I'm a really sensitive individual  :ROFLMAO:. But they also have killer pastries. I really like their potato biscuit - savory and a touch of heat. A few years back my friend got me their t-shirt for my birthday. Depending on the route, we hit the coffee shop and then the ferry landing or visa versa. Today it was visa versa!

The headless non-coffee drinking bikie!!!

Good morning FF22,

Your mission, FF22, should you choose to accept it ...

Woodland Park Zoo

... As always, should you or any of your IMFF22 Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, FF22. 😉

It has been years. But are you paying my admission? I'm a senior on a fixed income. Then again, some object to animals in zoos!

Wow! 😯 I had no idea that the cost of admission had skyrocketed so much! 😱 Can hardly believe what they're charging! That seems totally ridiculous! 🙄

And gee, the discount for 'Seniors' is a whole $2 ! 🙄 The same amount they equate to 'Adults with disabilities'! 🙄 Shame on Woodland Park Zoo ! 😡

I wonder if you could find a discount coupon somewhere? Or ring them up, and ask them how in the world... do they expect seniors on fixed incomes to be able to afford their price of admission?! 😕 You never know; maybe they'll offer a special one-time discount, if you call.

The last time I was there, probably in the late 90's, I think the admission cost was in the $10~$12 range? 🤔

Anyhoo, was just thinkin' that your pics of the exhibits and creatures would make a great photo-shoot to share. 😉
