Photos Taken With Your Nexus 4 Camera!

Finally got a decent shot I'm happy (enough) with :P

Was impressed because under the lighting conditions, I would have expected a worse shot. Mind you, the others I took are all blurrier.

Here's one I took using HDR. You can really see the lens flare from the sun. It can be annoying sometimes, but I think it added a cool effect in this picture.
- Also, this photo was not edited whatsoever. It is straight from my Nexus 4.

Moved over from a 4s, first experience with Android and have to say was NOT impressed with the camera at all when I got this thing a week ago. After experimenting with more camera apps than I'd care to admit, I decided the problem with the images coming out of this phone has everything to do with the software and not the lens. To me, the stock camera app that comes with this phone is the worst offender, it sometimes seems like the stills are frames pulled from the 30fps video resolution rather than something optimized for stills.

Of all the apps I tested, Vignette did the best job of generating out of the box images that befit a phone of this level. For anyone who's used the app, this is disappointing in one sense in that Vignette is the most paired down camera app I've ever used, the shooter has almost no control over focus or exposure. Yet, after using this thing for a week, I've grown to appreciate the scaled back approach and the images are about a thousand times better than what I got with any other app. See below.

It's not perfect but for me, with what I want to get out of a phone shooter, the images you get out of Vignette are a much better starting point than the stock app and doing some subtle color correction/contrast/brightness adjustments can help this thing get images very near to what the iPhone gets.

interesting focus? did you use your finger to specifically focus on the flower or was it automatic

Not sure if that was for me, couldn't figure out how to post the pics in the thread but if it's about the flickr links I sent, no, did nothing to set the focus it's fully automatic.

Okay, organized them all into a Nexus 4 photoset that can be viewed here: Nexus 4 - a set on Flickr

These are all from Thanksgiving with friends at a cabin in the woods. There's two darker photos where the sun is completely down, the last bits of light post sunset and I think there's something nice about the grain in the picks and the way Vignette halos around the center frame

Awesome Photosphere shot! One of the best I've seen anyways.

edit: was referring to the Minneapolis photo. I forgot to reply with quote.
