Today the APK for a revised camera app found on the new Google Edition HTC One and Galaxy S4 was extracted.
Link to story here:
Get Photosphere on non-Nexus devices with the 'Google edition' camera app | Android Central

Has been found to work on several other phones running 4.0 or higher. Has anyone tried this on a Stock DNA yet?
If so, could you post your opinion/review please.

Download link for it in the Android Central forums or here:

Well since there were no responders I took the dive and tried it. Not disappointed at all.
The install APK includes a Gallery and Camera app. The camera app has the options I was looking and and it works perfectly fine on my DNA.
The Panorama and Photosphere options are what I wanted to have since I'm going on vacation soon.
Tested each mode 2 times to make sure it was reliable and rendering functioned well. Performance was better than I hoped.
The only thing that may be an issue was that the phone got very warm after 5-7 minutes in use. Most other apps that have heated the phone (due to high cpu usage) also drained the battery quickly. The rendering process apparently takes it's toll.
I'll play around with it more this weekend so try to better gauge how much battery life it's using up/time used.

Just saw this post.

I have the camera app and honestly I think that the pictures are a little washed out. Also you cannot share any pic through a text message. The option is just not there. Other than that its okay. I'm going to keep it installed but ill only use it for the photosphere.

I don't known what you mean by either washed out, or not being able to share with text. They look good to me, and under the share button in the gallery I get all my usual options, messaging included.

I just shared a picture I just took through a text. I did it in the gallery app.

This new camera app is awesome. Photospheres are cool, but not something I'd use often. I think the photo quality is OK. About as good as you'll get on a 8 megapixel smartphone camera...

Think it may look washed out bc the sense app way overrsharpens and saturates the pics in post processing

Took some sunset shots this evening. Color and quality seemed very close. HTC camera app seems to be a smidge better but not a deal breaker.
Didn't realize until I was almost done about how to get the menu-I forgot about the articles. If you hold down on the screen a dynamic menu appears that you can move thru.
The menu is quick but I don't really care for that style, I prefer sidebar menu style.
I came across another issue as well. I switched between both camera apps a few times to compare shots, and then a glitch. The screen was all blotched green and black.
I was scared I had bricked my phone, luckily not. Turned screen off, then once back on normal I closed all open apps. I suspect it's a memory buffer issue since both
apps are trying to use the same camera hardware. To prevent this I suggest closing 1 camera app before opening the other.

I double checked...you cannot share a picture through the gallery that comes with the camera. I'm guessing you were using the stock HTC gallery app.

Another thing I noticed is before you take the picture, the image quality is a little bad. The actual picture is okay though

Lucky for you guys I'm on vacation in Kauai and I just downloaded this app. Here's my first panoramic shot.

Edit: I tried the photoshpere on the same spot and that app is really cool. It wasn't perfect, but neither was I. I'm gonna give it another shot in a little bit.

Nope. I'm using the stock Android gallery app. Select a picture, then at the top it has the option to share it via message, fb, twitter, etc.

I also think the pictures look a bit washed out, but that can easily be fixed. I'm really liking photosphere. I just wish I could manually stitch the pictures.

No ROMs. This is stock DNA. Could that be the issue?

Yep. That's got to be it. I'm running Slim Bean. I guess it only works on aosp ROMs.

FYI
A friend found something I did not know about yet. When using this google camera app you can take photos using the volume buttons, I tested and confirmed.
I don't know about anyone else but I've been wanting that feature for years. None of my previous phones offered that.

I noticed that! I liked the camera button on my OG droid and I always feel like I'm shaking the phone when I touch the screen to capture.

Which Slim Bean build? I tried 7, 7.5 and 7.8. I couldn't get the provided Photosphere to install. Installed another zip I found elsewhere, and while it technically works, the screen flickers so severely you cannot see the dots to center the next shot. Maps also flickers, but not nearly as bad. Would love to eliminate both issues bc i really like the ROM. Been off the charger for 22 hours, screen on for 2 hrs, backed up and restored a ROM and still have 34% battery left..

Sure beats TW..
