Picked up the Alpha - Anyone Else?

It's funny that when I first heard of Alpha, I thought that this is some sort of prototype of a new product line. Well it did spawned the Galaxy A series though (aimed at.... fashion?).

I'm sure you're not the only one that thought that.

iPhone 6 and Alpha are both great devices. But take a peak at the HTC ONE M8 or M9. Open a web page and zoom in. The phone enlarges the print/text AND re formats it to fit the screen eliminating the need to scroll from side to side. Also check out a Blackberry Passport. It's an odd shape and entirely different OS, but the reading experience is delightful. There may be some apps that brewing the "reader" mode to a new level. Did you try reader mode and bold text on the iPhone? Good luck with the hunt. Enjoy whatever suites you.

What makes a great phone? That is a very personal question. With devices becoming larger, if size is a concern the choices are extremely limited. Yes the A series replaces the Alpha. Not really. Through in a 2500 amh extended battery kit and the Alpha is a far superior device. The Sony z3 Compact is excellent, waterproof, read sealed, for better or worse. Camera? The alpha's camera may not be at the top of the heap, but it's certainly not bad. And yes if I look at the screen next to my Note Edge there is a difference. With that said it's not like I look at the Alpha's screen and think to myself "This is horrible." There are precious few, if any devices that give the build quality, feel and style of the Alpha in a a compact device. Even fewer devices offer the portability and screen size that the Alpha offers. It's not a matter of the best phone on the market. It's a matter of the right phone for an individual. For individuals looking for quality built well spec' smaller devices the choices are becoming few at any price. Four years ago the galaxy Note at 5.3 was consider to be a ridiculous over priced choice. I'm quite pleased with my Alpha. Its the sweet spot between readability and portability. Sad to see it go.

I do a lot of browsing and have the Samsung Browser set at 145% and seems clear to me.
I suppose if you are into high res screens you might notice but I don't.

Also the screen on my Alpha 850M is brighter at the bottom of the scale ( 15 to 20%) compared to most phones so better on Battery that way.
If watching a Movie I will crank up brightness but not needed for text.
I have 850M Exynos so a bit different from AT&T...
