Pics of Bionic next to...Droid HD?!

Not interested in anything but the Bionic here. There will always be something else coming. Besides, waiting through all the speculation, anticipation, confirmed bogus sources, outright lies and endless delays is something I can only handle about once a year. If you jump ship on the Bionic now, you'll have to start that all over again for the next phone.

i would tend to agree with you, but for the fact of Jha's statements last week or so. he said the Bionic was "an important product, but not the only product." he gave indication that Moto has other significant devices waiting in the wings. the tech sites have interpreted this to mean Q4 (altho i tend to believe more like the end of Q1). and, we've been hearing chatter of the D-HD for a while now, and we already have leaked pics. my personal WAG is that this is less than 6 months away.

And why the assumption that other significant devices means other Verizon phones? We know they are working on LTE tablets and have pretty strong info that they are working on the Dinara for AT&T. I'd be very surprised to see a better phone than the Bionic on Verizon before the year end.
And when did we first see leaked pictures of the bionic? And lets never forget the HTC Merge. Leaked pics mean nothing.

in the quarterly earnings report/conf call on 7/28/11, Jha said that Moto would have at least one other LTE smartphone, besides the Bionic, released before the end of the year. right now, VZW is the only carrier with LTE. at&t is working on it, but i doubt such a phone would be released when the network isn't ready for it. to me, that says there is another LTE Moto phone coming to VZW, and in the not too distant future.

it will be interesting to see how this stacks up against the Prime. i'm still so not ready to jump off that bandwagon yet.

now the question: assuming webtop, blur, OMAP 4460, but with a very slim design, what say CK - GS2 or D-HD??

Husker the Bionic and Targa were supposed to release this year. One of those is releasing September 8th. They are going to get this next one (Droid HD) out the door this year. They have to. Bionic is not going to be their last phone on Verizon this year. Ill put money on it. Droid HD drops during the Holidays.

Looks pretty sweet too.

Still have to go Galaxy because its open butt this handset gets my attention because of the unkown. ICS? No BloatTop? Blurless? Improved screen? The possibilities are intriguing. I would definitely consider it if it didn't have webtop and a pentile LCD. Even if it were locked. Blur is still not a favorite but I think I could overlook it.

but, we can make some pretty logical deductions (granted, "logic" and "Moto" aren't always synonymous):

it will be LTE (as Jha said another LTE device before end of the year)
given the thin design, it will have Moto's 2d gen LTE chip.
the menu keys appear to be part of the screen, so that suggests ICS.
it will be dual core (at least OMAP 4430, but probably OMAP 4460, and maybe even 4470).
i don't see them taking steps backwards in ram, so at least 1 gb ddr2.
hdmi out, hd recording.

Why do you care about whether or not it's locked? I thought you said you were done with rooting/ROMing, and wanted a phone with which you didn't need to tinker?

I like to have that freedom and option open. May never do anything but 2 years without flashing a single rom/kernel is a LOOONG time.

Good point. Also, Android still suffers from performance degradation over time. It's definitely improved with 2.3.x, but it's still an issue. Definitely nice to be able to hit the reset button on your phone's performance with a new ROM/Kernel.
