Pics of Bionic next to...Droid HD?!

Now you're just grasping at straws.

For what? I stated immediately after that I saw it was confirmed for VZW. Sorry, but I'm not one who hears something and immediately takes it for truth like everyone else around here.

The thread just below this one is the same.

With all due respect, no, it's not. ;)

With double due respect, yes it is.

Wrong. When I opened by saying, "Not sure how this doesn't have it's own thread here yet, but here you go.", I was referring to the specific article I linked to that had pics of the Bionic next to the upcoming Droid HD. There were ZERO threads created for it and ZERO references to it in ANY of the Bionic threads at the time. I thought it was big enough news that it warranted it's own thread. Sorry if you don't agree. All I know is that every time I post news in an existing thread it seems to get swallowed in a black hole, followed by someone else creating a whole thread for it, which then explodes like this one has.

Wow, this certainly is going to make it a bit harder to bring myself to get the Bionic. I've had my upgrade for months and months now so a little more waiting wouldn't be that bad, even with a non-smartphone.

However, at this point I think I'm pretty much set on Bionic or GSII, the only thing that would change my mind would be more leaked data about the Prime, if it were definitely on Verizon before Thanksgiving I think I'd have to wait. Any more phone leaks and my head might explode though :p

Man, the BIONIC went from looking sexy... to looking like last years model when compared to the HD. The BIONIC keeps getting whittled away from "the best, fastest, must have phone of the year" to just another cool phone to consider among the group that is due out.

That HD looks nice, real nice.

I've been waiting since CES like everybody else has for the Bionic but with it being thick as hell & looking like it's from 2009 on the outside, it's making it real hard to get the Bionic vs. the HD. I think I'll wait a few weeks after Bionic is released & see if any more HD specs come out/availability. It seems pointless to me to buy a phone that should have been out months ago with the other 1st gen LTE phones, the second gen (rev 2, vigor, etc.) are coming out within the next 2 months while Motorola is just now coming out with their first. The only improvement I see from the CES in January is double RAM. Wahoo.

You clearly have not been following at all then. This isn't the Etna of CES, this is the Targa.

I recommend you wait for the Bionic 2. It should be out 2 or 3 months after the HD. From what I hear its going to instantly make every other phone outdated.

I have never understood why people keep going nuts over a phone being thinner and lighter. The thing I like about my OG Droid is the fact that it doesn't feel fragile and plasticky like some of the HTC/Samsung phones. Everyone has their preferences I guess, but at least size and weight are actually material differences that might make a difference. It's not those other people: "OMG!!!! They're releasing the Superwhatsis phone in WHITE!!!"

Well, I'm going to wait for 2 to 3 months after the Bionic 2, when the SGS Splooge comes out

I'm not dumb lol. Pretty sure I've been following this phone just as much as anyone else. I know it's a different phone but honestly the only thing that was improved hardware wise was the RAM. Also, I know it's dumb to say "well this phone comes out in 2 months" because you'll always be waiting for one. I'm just saying this phone should have been out months ago to compete and it's dual core but that's the only advantage to it over the TB, Charge & Rev (besides battery & RAM). I probably will get the Bionic anyways. Just right now I'm just ranting because I don't wanna be stuck with a phone for 2 years that is essentially a droid 3 w a lte chip and .3" bigger screen when if i wait a few months then..well... I guess there's no point haha. I'm probably just getting the Bionic since that's what I've been waiting for all this time.

Seriously, why is everyone getting worked up over what it was codenamed? It is still the bionic, so what if they changed the form factor and processor. It is still the first dual core LTE phone. So when people say they have waited for it since CES, they have followed along with Etna and targa switch. but at the end of the day its still the bionic so why hate?

Processor is completely different too (Tegra 2 to TI OMAP) besides the ram boost.....just sayin :)

It is a completely different phone which was origionally scheduled for release later this year but accelerated development when Etna died. The Targa was supposed to be the followup for etna.

Thank You, glad it's not just me but that's how I refer to it. The Bionic is the Bionic. To the above, that's true. I just consider the processor the same (although a different company etc, I just don't know the specifics of the processor itself, if its any better than the original, it seems to be a matter of opinion from what I've seen ). It still just doesn't seem like too much of an improvement though. I liked the original Bionic or Etna and I still like the new one or Targa, I was just hoping after all the months of the delays, it would have been more improved. I don't know what the point of making a new Droid phone with the difference being a smaller battery & more ram (plus a different processor lol) but then look at the x2...my point is mute. Moving On...

You are the perfect candidate for the Droid HD. I understand exactly where you are coming from and have expressed the same thoughts. Wait for the HD you will be much happier I believe. Should be out around the holidays. The way time flys that's not too far off.

I got a couple of questions regarding the HD. Has there been any proof so far that this device IS LTE? My biggest concern with this device is how much slimmer it seems compared to the DB. Something has to give when dealing with these tolerances.

I know phil said to throw out the fact that he said its not on verizon and not LTE. But all he says after is verizon is testing it. Not that it has LTE. No LTE would explain the slimness of the device.

The other thing i was curious about was 2nd gen LTE chipsets. I know they are supposed to be smaller and more power efficient. Are they far enough along for this phone to have one? That would explain the added slimness as well, but im not sure if its too soon to expect those or not?

At the end of the day power issues are what i worry about the most on the bionic. If 2nd gen LTE chipsets will fix this, That alone would be worth waiting an extra couple months for.

If memory serves, wasn't one of the features mentioned for this HD an external/side SIM card/microSIM slot? (can't get to the site with the pics from work since they've blocked it for whatever reason) I know SIM slot alone doesn't 100% confirm LTE since it could just be for a GSM band SIM to give it "world phone" capability, but at this stage of the game I'd say it's more likely than not that VZW would want these types of high end devices to be LTE capable. With this most recent LTE expansion that they switched on yesterday now covering over half the US population, I think it's as good a time as any to start seriously cutting back on the number of non-LTE phones they would bring to market.

One difference of tegra vs omap was that the omap had a few more open gl capabilities I think. I remember seeing a comparison chart somewhere...
