Picture and Video MMS

Has anyone had this issue before where someone sends them a picture message but when you click the picture in the messaging app it plays like a video only the picture doesnt change? I know its a picture because I can save the attachment.

Also, when I receive a video message from an iphone the quality is so degraded and picture is so tiny it is very hard to view. Also I noticed that the vids come in in the oldschool .3gp format whats up with that?

Yes. It seems to always happen when I receive a picture message from someone with an iPhone. If they include words with picture, or send multiple pictures it will play as a slide show.
Very irritating.

have not experienced the first, but let me look into doing some tests.

yes the video playback has left me wanting, however, i've been using mx player pro and i don't recall seeing small videos since i've been using that app to playback mms videos. hope this will give you some ideas.

I havent tryed viewing mms with mx player. Im not sure if its an expanded capability but I have the free version and have never seen the option to view mms.

I have the same problem but also when someone sends me a picture, if I don't immediately save it once downloaded it disappears but it doesn't happen all the time. AND I sometimes get a second MMS from a hidden sender address.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

No I havent had that specific issue but I have noticed that sometimes pictures come in correctly as long as it includes no text with it.

Yup, that is correct. The stock Note II Message app will turn any mult-pictures, or picture-txt mixed MMS into a slideshow. If you just receive a single picture with nothing else, no space, no txt, no carriage return, then it will display just fine. If you want no slide shows, you will have to switch to a 3rd party app like Go SMS Pro or Handcents.

Actually Handcent does the slide shows also, and it does it worse than the stock app. I use Handcent as my main SMS app, but switch to the stock app if I get an MMS message that plays as a slide show. I'm unable to manually advance the slideshow when using Handcent. I have to sit and wait while it takes it's sweet time advancing to each message. At least with the stock SMS app, I can control it using the playback buttons. Go SMS did the same when I had it installed.

Handcent has a new update that's supposed to address MMS issues. After the update MMS messages from iPhone users containing pictures and text is working a lot better than before.

Yike! It was working fine before. But now it gave me the play button too! I swear it was working about 2 months ago on Go SMS Pro. Not sure if it was because of the 4.1.2 update or the Go SMS Update I installed that broke it.

I can deal with it for now. I like the simplicity of the stock messaging app as well.
