Picture in picture not working for youtube

I found a simple solution: Put youtube in multitask (half screen), press the horizontal line that divides the two apps, and you will see an icon with one square inside another, this button will make a floating window of youtube (or the last app you touch)

It's faster to go to multi task menu, hold a finger on an app and drag it to the square in the middle for pop out view.

BTW, did you guys noticed three-dot menu in multi task menu? You can change card view to list view which is way more conivninet IMO.

I have an issue myself with this. My YouTube works with PIP but out of nowhere it gets stuck and I always have to clear my cache to get it unstuck. I got a Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

Works fine form me. Samsung S9+
Click on Settings
Click on Apps
Scroll down to YouTube. Select
Scroll download to Picture in Picture. Select
Allow Picture in Picture.
Walla! Easy Peasy!
Hope this helps

How do I go from here to PIP? Do I have to use Samsung browser?

Tap on the little white line that is showing between the apps then tap on the icon that looks like a small square inside a bigger square.

This works well. But something I've noticed is that YouTube seems to block pip with music videos. I tested this and it seems to be this way. Watch a normal video without music, then hit home. Pip will work. Try the same thing with a music video. Pip won't work.

I got it!

Settings>Apps>Youtube>Advanced>Picture in picture

and then of course go into youtube app

Settings>General>enable picture in picture

After enabling picture in Picture in settings just open YouTube, watch a video, and press the hone button. It should automatically go to Picture in Picture mode.

Literally thank God I found this. I've been PISSED OFF for months because PIP was working fine and then all of a sudden one day it just quit and I've been looking for a solution since and read somewhere Google was just testing the PIP function and that it was a YouTube red feature only. So happy to have this feature working again. Just like these guys said you have to turn it on in the phone settings and YouTube settings and I had to restart the YouTube app and it's working again!
Thank you so much!

EDIT: I know this is the S9 forum but I'm actually using a Note 8. I just found this thread from Google.
