Picture in Picture Note 9

So I just traded in my Samsung S8+ for a Note 9 and the picture in picture feature isn't working correctly. It's a feature I love! When using maps for directions after about 10 seconds the application automatically goes to picture in picture mode. On my S8 it only went to PIP mode when I hit the home button. Any help would be great!

So without trying to minimize maps it still auto goes into pip after 10 seconds?
