Picture Message goes to local area code

Everytime I send a picture message to a friend who lives in a different area code she gets the text portion of the message but the picture gets sent to some one in my area code with her number. Like if her number is (123)456-7890 and my area code is (234) the text portion goes to the correct number but the picture gets sent to (234)123-4567. Anyone know how to fix this?
