So its the Optimus S. The home and menu buttons have changed places. Ok just read the middle part. I'm dumb.

no ur not. and from reading wiki its exactly the same. i have been researching this phone for months, and its finally out thanks to a guy who got to buy it at Target! sadly its not in my area yet. all the specs are the same as sprint except VirginMobile took off the tethering. other than that its pretty much the same. i just hope the service is at least decent enough to get the phone. only time will tell!

Quite honestly I love my Optimus S. Its tons better than my Moment. I personaly have not had any problems with mine like some others seem to have.

Anybody else notice the icons?? 3x4?? Or the fact it only appears to have 3 screens? I should mention i prefer fewer screens so 3 screens is great by me but the 3x4 would make me grab an aftermarket launcher.

I've gotta believe that's a plastic display model, and not a production version with the screen turned on. There's no way the phone would have 3x4 icons, 3 home screens, and what appears to be the Gingerbread launcher with a FroYo notification bar!

Also, the tactile buttons at the bottom are actually the exact same configuration with the same icons as those on the Optimus U. Ours have the home and menu buttons switched around, and our menu button icon is slightly different.

I see what's going on. Thats the real phone, so those buttons are correct. But it has a protective sticker over the screen. The persons youtube video shows them using the phone and it does in fact have 5 screens and 4x4 layout.

Aaah, that makes more sense. I also just realized there's an article posted on the Android Central homepage that contains a screen of the phone while it's on. It just hit me that it's not the Gingerbread launcher, but a launcher with the browser button in place of Sprint ID, which, of course, the Optimus V wouldn't have.

Hmm... if this is close to an AOSP Android running on there, we could just take their ROM dump and swap our kernel in it.

Source code should be released a couple days following the phones official release. Took 2 days for optimus s code to be released! LG is on top of it :)

We don't want the source code though for what I'm thinking about. All we need is someone to do:

adb pull / <directory on computer>

That would give us a dump of the ROM, which would HOPEFULLY be more stock than ours. From that, we can simply add in files specific to our phone (kernel, mainly), and we should be set.

It appears very similar to the S and even has the camera and voice buttons on the side where as the optimus T does not have them. Also noticed the home and menu buttons are swapped. :)
