One interesting but slightly annoying quirk that has carried forward to this Pixel 9 Pro XL from my past Pixel phones is the fact that -- as illustrated by the two sunset photos I posted above -- any photos taken after 8 pm are coded as photos taken on the following day,
For example, the "Sunset over Lake Eola" photo that I posted above at 8:06 pm yesterday was actually taken at 8:02 pm yesterday, August 24, which information is correctly reflected in the Google Photo data labeling; but the coding identifies the photo as "PXL_20240825_000231814" -- indicating that it was taken on the following day, August 25. By contrast, the first photo I posted above on Thursday was taken at 7:59 pm on August 22, and it is properly coded as PXL_20240822_235946388.
This issue -- a date change occurring at 8 pm on the coding of Pixel photos -- is one that I've experienced at least since the fall of 2020, when I was still using my Pixel 2XL, and it has continued to occur with my Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 Pro. I posted a message on the forum requesting help a few years ago, but no one could offer a solution. Of course, I can go into Google Photos and manually correct the coding for each affected picture, but that would take an enormous amount of time, and wouldn't resolve the problem going forward. And truthfully, it's just a minor nit.
Does anyone know whether the coding can be reset so that the date changes at midnight, and if so, how to go about it? Thanks.
