PingChat!!!!!

Uninstalled as well due to the lack of notifications. Anyone else have this issue or is it working great for everyone?

Is there any messaging software that can communicate directly with bbm? Or is their protocol strictly proprietary? Some of my ffamily members are on Blackberry devices and would like to communicate without having to install additional software on their end if at all possible.

Supposedly an upcoming app called CrossTalk will be able to communicate with BBM. We'll see but check out the link

i'm not getting notifications either...but i am getting the sound, which is weird. the sound comes through when i get a message, but nothing shows up in the notification bar...

I'm getting notifications just fine on the notification bar. Doesn't seem to have much customization and can't figure out how to send emoticons.

This is what I noticed about notifications: if a particular chat is open, and I get a new message in that chat, I just get the sound....no notification in the notification bar. But if its not open, everything works fine....visual and sound notification

IPhone user here but I bought my wife an Incredible.....(That's why I'm here) We both D/L'd the app. Pretty nice but voice message doesn't work between platforms.
Avatar pictures would be a nice addition.

Can you send a message from PingChat to just another number without them having PingChat?

I was just about to ask the same thing.

Do you people READ the forum? or just jump to the end to ask your question? Ping chat is different because you can send files like pics, voice notes, and other files from your phone to another WITHOUT using mms. It's free and uses your data connection just like google voice and google talk. However, the other two are limited to just text messages. Also you get messages reciepts of when your message (or pings as they call it) are read by the one you are sending them too. This is actually something that us former blackberry users were quite fond of with BBM. You can also do group chats like bbm. It is THE closest thing to BBM out there, and it is available on all 3 major Operating systems, although the version for blackberry kinda sucks.

It is VERY convienent to have message reciepts. That way you know when the other person has read your message. Once you've had this, you come to rely on it. How many times have you sent a message hoping for a quick response, only to get a response hours later. With message reciepts you know they didn't read it yet.

Yes I read every post in this thread. Sorry forum-chief, I thought you could send files through Google Talk. And not being a former BBM user, I really don't see the huge benefit of getting read receipts on messages. My mistake.

Is that the same PING that iTunes has AGAIN made a bigger deal with then Any OS?????????

good idea for an app, but to me it seems pointless. i am an ex-blackberry owner. original curve, storm 1, 2, tour. i just think that in order for us to chat with bbm the blackberry needs this app too. apparantly crosstalk will work with bbm without them needing install the app, but it isnt out yet and it said by the end of august.

if you have a dinc, you have verizon, and have unlimited mobile to mobile texting. just use that to send your mms. i use google talk to talk to my brother, but when it comes to pix messages, we use either the default messaging, or handcent. works just fine that way for me.

once crosstalk comes out, unless im missing something, it will be better off. bbm users wont need any extra apps to talk to us on android.

this is all just my opinion, please dont flip out on me, dont think i didnt read the whole forum, cuz i did...
