I have been a Droid guy for a long long time. Have literally owned a phone from every major player...a few Nexus, including my 6 that I just sent back to Google regrettably.....went back to Samsung to check the hype and because I have tech ADD.

Yesterday my P2XL arrived...and less than 24 hours in...I am in love. Fast, Oreo...the screen is just fine. Camera is magnificent...just pleased as punch. Going to be happy to keep this for 2 or 3 years.

Keep that for 2 or 3 years?? I doubt 😂 I said the same thing with my S7 and nexus 5x lol.. ended up changing phone every year.

I want RCS messaging to be native, yes. I know it is currently available for those on Sprint...but for all carriers to incorporate the technology is my desire. A unified means of communication is the ultimate desire, of course (especially in Emoji Land...even if to look Android-ish vs iPhone-ish remain different Looking when received...to at least be able to SEE the emoji characters would be great) instead of having to do so via an app.

I have Sprint and apparently have enhanced features but with the pixel, I don't see those features implemented... Is that in the native messaging app? I use Facebook messenger for texting. 🙄

The RCS features are supposed to come standard with the Android Messages app on Sprint for Pixel devices... Maybe things have changed 🤷🏾*♂️

I use Facebook messenger as well, but not as a complete replacement to the stock messaging at. Android Messages suits me just fine.

I've been a member here at AC for years. Literally, I've been here as long as it's been in existence - dating all the way back...I've owned more phones than I can count, and I am a Android girl - to the core. I've had HTC Diamonds, LG phones, every TREO and Palm device, every single Note except the 8. I switched over to Pixel after having to return 2 Note 7's last year (like many of you). I stay pretty quiet, because a girl can seriously get her throat ripped out if I dare make a thread or a comment that I didn't "RTFM" or "do a search" for, prior to posting. I get it. Ya'll are busy. But that's what FORUMS are for, and should be WELCOMING to questions and NEW people -- it's a community. I've seen people treated very badly in AC and I keep my mouth shut because of it.

I come here in excitement to learn about my new phone, that I've dropped my hard earned money on - only to find the most incredibly negative batch of threads you can find anywhere. Cancel your preorder! This screen sucks! Wireless charging should be standard by now! Why isn't this device waterproof?! ETC.

Gah!

I'm a girl. I want my phone to do what it's supposed to do, and well. I want cute accessories. I don't give a rip about putting iPhones next to Android phones and comparing - because I'm Android. On principle, I am not going to use an iPhone, I don't care how "much better" the screen looks - nor am I going to rag on and on about how "much better" other devices are, or "how much better" other devices DO THINGS. I AM ANDROID. And I'm newly committed to the Pixel line. Just like the diehard Apple fans, I'm now a Pixel girl.

...so I'm officially starting a POSITIVE COMMENTS THREAD.

If you have something negative to say, go find the other 9000 threads to do it in.

Here's a video that I saw this morning, seems to be on the "up" side of owning the Pixel 2 line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnqtyoeOR7c

Can we discuss the GREAT things about this phone and what's coming? I'm doing my best to avoid the "THIS SCREEN SUCKS" threads, so I hope this one stays near the top.

Thanks friends.
Very well said........I don't have my pixel XL yet but I'm looking forward to getting it and ignoring all the negativity. Enjoy your device!

I love my pixel 2 XL, so far it's been great. The battery life is amazing, speakers are great, and even the sound quality has improved for phone calls. It doesn't feel plastic at all, or hollow. Nice job Google

I started on Windows Mobile (Motorola Q, anyone, anyone??), and have switched back and forth between Android and iOS. I always longed for a phone that would combine the two - the fluidity and app quality of iOS, with customizability of Android, etc., etc. So far, my new Pixel 2XL has it all. Absolutely love it, and it's been a while since I got this excited about a phone (probably since Note 2...).

Well said! We need more positivity here. Got my phone in hand. I'll post a lot....I mean a lot more this weekend when I have my phone set up. The Pixel community is awesome...minus the trolls. Can't wait to share pics, home screens and more. Let's have fun!

I've had my Pixel 2 XL set up for the past few hours and love it! The speakers are great and get loud, this thing is really fast, and I actually really like the display and the way that colors are rendered.

Have yet to play around with the camera.

The Pixel 2 was able to pick out the songs on my Jeep Wrangler radio while I was driving down the highway at 60 miles an hour with the top down.

That's pretty darn amazing.

Hey I've been around that long too! I came back after a couple years when I pre ordered the 2 xl!

I lost interest for a while being stuck with a Samsung for a couple of years that never got updated. That and no big changes between new phone models every year.

I'm beyond excited to get my 2xl.

I am an all OS device guy. I used WP from Oct 2013 till Jan of this year on my main line. I switched full time to Android after that. In the meantime I have had pretty much every major device under the sun. Nexus 4 > Nexus 5 > Nexus 6 > Nexus 5X > Pixel. My favorite was Nexus 5 until the Pixel showed up last year. I have been on the fence about Pixel 2 for only one reason, my Pixel runs just as well now after almost a year as it did when I got it in 2016. But we need threads like this to convince fence sitters like me to upgrade from my Pixel to Pixel 2.

My OGpixel XL is getting a little janky but I'm low on space... not sure if that is why or if it's because I know its replacement is on the way and I'm imagining it 😂😂

I've been following the Pixels, Note, V30, and the U11 Plus to decide which one to get. In my estimation the Pixels are a terrible value proposition at their current prices. I had preordered the Pixel XL2, but I cancelled it and went with the Note, which I just returned because of the terrible speaker, battery life, and the rounded edges that I can't stand. I'll be looking at the V30 and the U11 Plus more closely to make a decision, but I would definitely have gone for the Pixel XL2 if the price was ~$200+ cheaper. A premium price for a definitely non-premium device just doesn't make sense in the current year IMHO. Otherwise the devices look great.
