I found this PocketLint article on my iPad this morning. It may come in handy for anyone new to Android or Android Oreo. It is looooong, FYI.

The pop-up/floating navigation window is actually pretty cool. I think so far that's my first "Wow, this phone can do a new thing!" moment.

Thanks for starting this thread, this is what we really need around here!

I have a little tip, it came in handy for me last night as I was setting up my phone, is that the night mode has an intensity adjustment.

I guess it's more of a reminder. If you first toggle night mode on and get shocked by how dark and red the screen gets, just go into settings > display > night mode, and you'll see a slider bar to adjust the intensity.

Also, the animated pictures are kind of awesome. I was testing them on my wife and making her giggle. So now I've got like 5 little 3-second clips of her laughing rather than still images. They're like the pictures in Harry Potter, short little animations. Really very cool.
