Pixel 2 none Xl Screen Issue

Wow, reading all of those comments... that would definitely concern me. Can that be fixed by software or is it a hardware issue??

Hi all. Unlocked Pixel 2 here. Anyone else experiencing this black lock screen and black home screen bug? Link below is a thread on reddit with the same issue that I see. Half of the screen is black and then half is brighter on my lock screen. On a black background home screen it is less visible, only the very top is brighter. And then in the app drawer with black background it is also visible at the very top. When I scroll down I can eliminate it at the top but then the very bottom is brighter!

It is odd because opening an all black web page, image, or video does not exhibit this at all. Solid black background within Display Tester app also is perfect and uniform black at all brightness levels. As soon as I return to the home screen, the bright area returns. I see it because I like the Live Earth wallpaper.

Fortunately I don't experience any black crush or banding on mine like others have posted. This lock screen / home screen issue is likely some software glitch, right? Otherwise all other black backgrounds would do this. Maybe it is some instruction being sent when displaying home / lock screen? Worth an exchange or no? I also get color shift with very slight movement / screen at an angle which is annoying, but I think very common with OLED phones.

I called Google support and apparently people have been calling in about this issue (lock screen bright clouding issue). It is likely software related (I hope) and they are releasing an update shortly. Fingers crossed.
