While I was eventually credited the full amount quoted - 57 days after Google received my trade-in - I still don't recommend the trade-in process to anyone. But I can confirm that after everything that was done wrong, Google is at least confirming that they know they're screwing up by offering a token credit at least in some circumstances.

Hmm this is interesting. I didn't deal with what you dealt with but I also got a credit from Google as well.
Thanks for sharing this.

Anyone with more updates on the trade in ? I have an OG Pixel 32 in mint condition and my Pixel 2 arrives on Feb 7. I am really trying to decide if it is worth taking a chance on the trade in vs selling it privately or just keeping it. Lots of horror stories.

I traded in my very busted up pixel XL and got full value ($400), didn't have any trouble whatsoever. I can't believe they are still running the trade in program.

Well, I tried to take the easy way to deal with my Nexus 6P and use the trade-in service when I bought my Pixel 2 XL. The POS company Google is using is giving me $15.20 instead of $151 because: 1) It wasn't factory reset (B.S., it was.) and 2) it was received more than 30 days after I initiated the trade-in (which is not even the current policy, it's now 30 days after you receive the new phone, mine was sent in well within this timeframe.)

I contacted Google customer support, they escalated the issue and gave me a case number and promised me a response within 48-72 hours. If I don't receive what was quoted for my phone, I'll cancel Google Protect to make up the difference. Also, I will never do a trade-in through Google again. Lesson learned, I guess.

UPDATE: I never heard back from Google support after I submitted a case; however, today I was looking at something in the Google store and found that there's a $135.80 credit on my account which is the exact difference in my trade in. I'm a little bummed that I didn't receive an email or anything but they did make it right in the end.

I'm surprised that they didn't send you an email about this. They sent me a "you got a refund" email about said credit.

If you don't mind, what was the gist of the email? Did they say it was specifically a credit for recalculating the trade in amount?

Nope, they didn't specifically say it was for the trade-in. They just said that it was a "courtesy refund". I did the math and it was the rest of the trade in amount that I was owed.
