I picked up a Pixel 2 about two and a half weeks ago from Bell. This phone is awesome. I can't say enough good things about it. My favorite mobile device of all time is the Bold 9900. As for Android's HTC M7 and M8 were top of my list. The Pixel 2 has surpassed them as the number one on that list.
Has this happened to anyone else with a Pixel 2?
Here is the scenario. Last night before leaving to CrapDonald's for supper my phone was at about 80% battery life, I received a notification from theScore for the hockey game so, nothing out of the ordinary. The phone goes in my coat pocket as I have done multiple times in the past; have supper, then take my son to his extra-curricular activity. I pull the Pixel 2 out of my pocket to see a blank screen, no display at all. I pressed the power button and nothing. The phone did feel a bit warm so I let it cool down and after getting home tried some basic trouble-shooting such as holding down the power button, pressing the power/volume rockers all at the same time, plugged into the charger to see if a rogue app completely drained the battery. Nothing worked.
I took the phone up to Bell expecting it to be a dud and get a replacement. However, the CSR managed to the phone back up and running which is great. I remember with the Bold 9900 and the constant battery pulls, the rep said "Android's can have that similar issue." "Of course, you can't do that now but if it happens again hold the power button and top volume rocker for 45 seconds for a hard reset."
Up until this point, I have never had an Android device just go completely dead like that. Freeze-ups yes but not where it wouldn't turn on.
