I use my OG Pixel XL with Android Auto every day. I am wondering if there are any changes with the 2 XL.

I've been wondering this too. It's maddening trying to search the web for any info on this, any mention oF "Auto" comes up, and none of it pertains to aNDROID aUTO.

I can try it when I get my phone, but youre looking about a week or two out :P I would imagine that itll work just fine. Same OS Version, same app, shouldnt be an issue.

I came from a Nexus 6. Set up Android Auto with my Pixel 2 XL, Waze works fine so I imagine the rest will be OK.

I just hope we can permanently turn driving mode off...Or maybe it turns off itself when AA is activated?

From everything I've heard, you have to physically enable driving mode on the pixel before it'll take effect. So if you don't want to use it, just don't enable it

Thank goodness, now my question is , I drive for a living and 99% of the folks I pass are using their phones. So which ones would ever turn something on that would stop them from using them when driving?

I'm guessing 0.0%😊

VERRY few. Perhaps tech savvy parents before they give their kids a new toy. That would be nice.

Android Auto is not worrying correctly with my Pixel 2 XL, I have a Kenwood DDX9903S in my car on the latest firmware. I have previously used the original Pixel XL and a Samsung S8+ on it with no issues.

What it is doing is this: I plug it into the regular USB port that I did with the others, this is a Kenwood cable that plugs into the radio, it has two USB plugs on it, one for Android/iPhone, one for a USB drive. I'm using a USB A to C cable purchased from the Google Store to connect. When I plug it in the radio doesn't detect the phone at all, it only charges my phone. I went into developer settings and turned on USB Debugging, this caused it to work part of the time, the radio will detect the phone and launch Android Auto. This doesn't always work, sometimes it locks up, others it just stops and says it has a "USB Access Error." It has now started saying unsupported device here and there.

It's been very frustrating since I drive 40 minutes to work each way and used Android Auto for podcasts and audiobooks daily.

On your phone, go to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Android Auto -> App notifications and make sure the first three choices are all enabled; the fourth one also, if you like.

Uninstall, reinstall? Check USB Configuration in Dev Options? Try using on screen Android Auto? Factory Reset?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app a couple times, no change, I haven't had a chance to try any other USB options in Dev options. The on screen Android Auto, I'm guessing you mean it displaying on my phone and not the head unit, that works but I don't want to use that after I spend money on my radio. I haven't tried the reset yet but I might if it becomes too much to deal with. Thanks for the recommendations!!!

I suspect it may have something to do with the proprietary cables provided by Kenwood. Maybe they have updated cables for USB-C devices?

Have you been able to fix this? I have exactly the same problem. It connects fine but locks up after 15 minutes working. It's quite frustrating! I already uninstalled the AA app and reinstalled it and nothing changes

Tested it again this past weekend. I used Waze via AA to drive to Disney and back. Zero issues.
