Android Central Question

so, am having issues connecting my Ford Sync (2010 ford escape) with my pixel 2 xl. it connects fine with Bluetooth for calls however when I receive text messages sync tells me this is device is not a text messaging compatible device and thus I cannot get or send text messages with this phone.

even my IPhone 4s and my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was able to do this.... why cant this phone do it?

I am seriously regretting this phone... someone please help me... Google help told me to try downloading Android Auto to help with... all this does is take over my phone for my drive.. still doesn't allow me to connect and receive text message.

is there something I can do the be able to read my text message through my Ford Sync?

This is a serious deal breaker.... starting to wonder if I should take the hit and go out an buy the Note 8 instead

Welcome to Android Central! It may have to do with how old that system is -- it might not be compatible with all newer phones, but older phones will still work. Do you know if the Note8 will work with that version of Sync?

There's a phone compatibility finder here: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync...patible-with-sync.html#?year=&model=&syncGen=. Neither the Note8 nor the S8 show up in that compatibility list.

I was very frustrated that my 2013 couldn't get messages from my Pix 2 on Android 8.

After I had it for a few months, it got some system update and was suddenly able to use MAP (sync messages). That stayed working perfectly for a few months. Since then, every update has not had the ability.

It really sucks! You'd think Goggle would sort that out.
