When you’re close to a subject like that you don’t really need to use portrait mode to achieve bokah.

And actually that shot may have come out even better if you had not used portrait mode and just let the real bokah show. There’s a funky looking area in the fake bokah photo.

That's true. Just trying out the limits of the software bokeh. Haha

Here's the non-portrait mode version, which is even better. So glad Google takes both versions in a single shot.

Still bring my Canon DSLR and Sony mirrorless for photography sessions and holidays.

Computational photography in smartphones have come a long way, but has its notable limits. Can't beat sensor size, lens quality and true bokeh.

However, since I don't bring those cameras daily, the Pixel 3 is definitely an amazing photography tool to have in my pocket.

Mike, how are you getting portrait mode images to stay in portrait mode? I tried to post a portrait mode image and the forum posted it in landscape mode. I had to immediately delete it. So what is the secret to posting in portrait mode?
