Pixel 3 / 3 XL - Shipping Discussion

I ordered my Just Black 64GB Pixel 3 from the Google Store (cancelled my original Verizon order) on 10/11. Still no update and still maintains a delivery date of 10/23-10/24.

Woke up this morning to an e-mail saying that my phone had shipped yesterday and is scheduled to be delivered by the end of the day. That's 6-7 days earlier than originally scheduled. I'll take it as I'm really not a fan of the iPhone XS I bought last week.

Do you think the fact that phones are shipping earlier than originally estimated means that Google has had less demand for these phones than anticipated?

No, that frequently happens to other brands and even items shipped from carriers. They tend to quote a date further in the future that allows some wiggle room for delays. From a customer service perspective, it is better to quote a later date and deliver earlier, than to quote a realistic date and fail to meet it because of unforseen circumstances.

The same thing happened last year, however they actually stopped taking orders on certain models which I thought was a terrible way to do business. I think Google has got a better handle on distribution this year and based on activity in the forums it seems like they are selling more units, however that's my unscientific gut feeling.

Anyone who ordered from Verizon getting your delivery today? Mine are sitting at FedEx location in NJ. Arriving here in Michigan tomorrow.

Did everyone but me do expedited shipping?? LOL

Mine is Friday FedEx Ground :)

I just did the free shipping. With pre orders I learned doing the standard shipping it gets here just as fast most often as paying for expedited. For example I pre ordered on the 12th. It shipped last night. It’s on the truck now for delivery. Free standard shipping. Not 100% but most times it works the same.

My Fi order just delivered (signature not required). Taking an early lunch so it's not sitting on my porch for too long

Well don't look like my P3XL made it in no plane.
It was in Illinois yesterday morning where it left around 10:30 am.
This morning at 10:32 am it's in Dustin, Oklahoma.
Not sure I will. Have it by tomorrow.

Mine was shipped overnight last night and arrived from IL to Oakland, CA by like 4am. It's only a matter of one one-way plane trip. I'll be getting both phone and case by 8pm today, and both are actually at my local FedEx facility waiting to be delivered.

No, I think this year's a bit different for them. The last few years, they've operated much in the same way they did with the Nexus phones, having an outside OEM like HTC or LG handling the build. This year, they're dealing directly with a large volume manufacturer in Foxconn. We know they're able to handle the workload, as they put out all of Apple's iPhones. So I think that makes a difference.

BTW, you said you already got your Pixel Stand delivered. Did you order it separately or was it part of the promo if you ordered a Pixel 3 through the MyVerizon app? Did you see anything about it from Verizon before it shipped? So far, there's no record of it from Verizon, though they tell me that I'll get it since I satisfied the terms of the offer. But they said that last year and it all went to crap anyways. Just seeing how hard I should be pushing on Verizon or if I should just be patient.

Not for me... My Pixel 2 was sent standard and it took 4 days to arrive. It was sent ground. My Pixelbook was sent standard and it took 3 days to arrive... Well worth the $19 for expedited shipping. That $19 is a drop in the $900 bucket..

My .02

Seems fitting for this thread...
