Pixel 3/3XL....What Color?

I'm hoping the case will not prohibit the wireless charging, it shouldn't since it seems there will be a charging stand.

When I tried wireless charging in the last (Moto Droid Turbo IIRC) it worked ok. Wireless charging isn't of much importance to me. When I tried it, the phone always seemed to be warm to hot when on the charger, and it didn't charge as fast as using the so called "turbo charger" included with the phone. It's really not that difficult to plug in a cord IMO. They could leave it out of the Pixels and it wouldn't affect me either way. Unless the wireless charger does something other than charge the phone, I won't pick it up.

If the phone is getting hot.
It's a fast charger..and the phone is left on the charger too long.

Had a Droid Turbo also, and a Qi charging stand. Set it on the stand at bedtime and took it off at get up time. Never had any issues. Been plugging the Pixels in for 2 years now, no big deal, but like new toys and think the Pixel charging stand does more than charge.

Once the facts and price are released, I decide if I get it or not. I have a gut feeling the charging stand is not going to be $19.99.

Charging stand will probably be 59.95 for a fast charging stand.

Will somebody confirm, I heard the note 9 with a charging stand had a small fan in it.

I think the 2017/2018 models had the fan in them you have to double check before buying because some didn't have that feature .

From what little info I can find, it seems it going to be a "dock" more than a charging stand. I think it will allow the phone to perform certain tasks while docked, not just get charged.
If this is true, the price may deter me from getting it, maybe.

Will be interesting here on the 9th.

Then the:

what did you order?, when do you order it?, why did you get yours before i got mine?
where is my credit for the phone I sent in? the black phone sucks, the white phone sucks, Google sucks, I got mine, I love it.

comments will abound.

Note to Admins - get the P1 and P2 launch threads and rename them P3 launch - save us all a lot of trouble posting - :D:D

This was back before there was fast wireless charging. It was a plain old Qi charger, nothing special about it. And the phone was on the charger for 30 minutes, not long enough to get a full charge.

The thing to realize about wireless charging is that the process used, induction, isn't as efficient as a wired charger. It all comes down to resistance. A wired charger USB plug connects directly with the pins in the USB connector. But with induction charging, there isn't the same direct connection. It has to go through the phone body and possibly an aftermarket protective case. Anytime you add resistance to a circuit, you add heat and lose efficiency. It's basic electronics.

For example, think of wired charging like mating 2 garden hoses together, the flow is consistent and efficient. Now, for wireless charging, put a piece of cloth between the 2 hoses. The flow is impeded because of the resistance of the cloth, same as with the phone casing and protective case.

Another example would be cooking. Which heats food faster, cooking something on an open flame or in a skillet on a stove top? On a flame, there is no barrier between the fire/heat and the food. Whereas with a skillet on a stove top, the heating element (or flame on a gas stove) has to heat the skillet before it can cook the food.

Either way, none of the fastest forms of induction charging charge as fast as the fastest forms of wired charging, and they never will due to the inherent properties of induction. You can't change physics. Electrons will always move slower when there's resistance.

On the first part, I found that last night, but thanks for posting it here for others who haven't found that. As to the second part, no arguments from me. Each release is the same comments, lather, rinse, repeat.

Meh...my monitor doesn't really do the pink justice. If anything it looks like a discolored white.

Why not a blue or Red or purple.

I asked myself that same question. But looking at Google's products, its apparent that they don't do "loud" colors. Grey and white, charcoal and white, mint, salmon, etc. seem to be safe.

When they dropped the Really Blue on the OG Pixel, I was thinking we could see a Really Red as well.

Remember the Google Home bases, purple, blue and copper? I wouldn't mind seeing a Pixel in any one of those colors. Copper would be nice.

These P3 color choices are really boring. I love my panda 2xl and really think Google should have at least one two tone color option each year. It's a distinguishing look. Hopefully they do something interesting for the P4.

Copper would be nice.

Yes it would.

Ordered a P3 case yesterday, so I'll begetting a P3. It appears all the fronts of the P3s are black, as were the P2s. If this is true, I'll get a black phone. If the front of the white phone is white, I may consider that. Put it in the black case I ordered, with the black desktop, and have my own version of the "panda"

Chances of the white phone having a white face are less than me getting my alimony $$s back from my ex.
