Pixel 3 (actually for Pixel 4) Wish List

For future wish list...
1. More Ram or better Ram management
2. More Android options for gestures
3. Telephoto and or wide angle camera on the back please.
4. Keep the wide angle selfie, I actually quite like that feature.
5. Smaller bezels, and smaller notch if they can't get rid of it.
6. Bigger battery.

Since they skipped 6 GB this time it should probably be at least 8 next time, possibly more.

I really miss the option to add seconds to the time display in the notifications bar.

In fact the whole "System UI" we used to have is now gone. Please bring it back!

My "realistic" wish list...

1. More RAM with the same great optimization as before.
2. Slimmer notch
3. Dual cameras with dual OIS
4. Fast wireless charging with all fast wireless charging pads
5. Higher storage options
6. Slimmer bezels (if this means no more front facing speakers then I am okay with a bottom firing speaker if the earpiece still doubles as a speaker for stereo sound)
7. More security options besides fingerprint (face id or iris scanner or something to that affect)
8. Larger battery of course
9. No increased price (most of us aren't millionaires)
10. Pre-order bonuses???

1. 6GB or 8GB RAM. In the 2-4 year lifespan many owners will expect their device to be not simply functional but effective, devices produced at this point should be anticipating and prepared for greater demand of memory resources than is required by apps at time of device launch.
2. No notch. In 10 years there'll be a YouTube video (or hologram, or direct-to-brain transmission) of the dumbest things from the 2010's, and notches will be number 3 on the list.
3. Dual rear camera (1 tele), dual EIS/OIS. Google's shown what it can do with AI on a single lens. Blow our minds with what you can do with 2. As to the front, if it drops the bezel or minimizes notch, go with a single, high-quality wide angle lens that can do everything the 2 front do now.
4. Minimum QHD display on all Pixel devices.
5. Maintain front-firing speakers, make efforts to deliver them to the very top and bottom edges to provide for minimal bezel.
6. Same FPS, same place, whether or not other biometrics are added. Still the most secure, and in the most ergonomic location.
7. Retain 2 models: high end, and high end XL. Let other OEM's fill the need for mid- and low-end under Android One.
8. Mapping of Active Edge and FPS swipe functions.

And bonus points...

9. 'x-ray' edition (clear back)
10. Custom CPU (would allow for > 3 years updates)

1. 16:9 display. Keep the same great height and use the extra width for wider keyboard, larger battery and more RAM.
Larger battery of course. More RAM? I really can't use enough of the 4GB in my Pixel 2 to need more.

2. Reverse the position of the Power Button and Volume controls. The Power Button is used more frequently and easier to reach in the middle of the phone. Even better: eliminate the Power Button and make the fingerprint reader dual-purpose (as on LG G6); you press it and it acts like a Power Button.
Okay, but set the buttons do that the center of the edges are clear, so an Otterbox case will fit the holster in either position. (How's that for nit-picking?)

3. Double-tap the screen (and draw pattern) to wake so you don’t have to pick it up, such as when cooking.
Nova Launcher.

4. When a timer is set, a double-tap should display the remaining time.
My Pixel 2 shows remaining time if I just pull down the shade.

5. Custom text notification sounds so that you know who sent a text without looking. Textra has this, but why force users to another app?
One of those "someone at Google had an idea" things. It weas there from the beginning to - was it Oreo?

6. Free phones! All my data is probably worth much more than Google admits.
And a younger body and a longer life while you're at it. :)

I only have 2 requests;

1 - No bugs/issues at launch. Failing this, please Google, test before releasing hardware.
They call that "beta testing". Betas aren't so you can see the new version before it's released, it's so you can hammer on it and report bugs. No one does. Google tests, they release betas. From then on, it's up to us. So blame us - the beta users.

Pixel 3 design, features with the following changes:

2. True dual SIM
You mean dual active SIM (as opposed to dual standby.) That increases the price - (basically you have 2 radios, one for each SIM).

3. No notch
And an SD card and a removable battery? They consider the notch moving forward. Everyone else is doing it.

Honestly I would stop at 6GB. 8GB of ram would definitely impact battery life.
Ram just being refreshed (or static RAM) doesn't actually draw much. But 6GB today is more than enough. Android can kill apps when needed, and how many apps can you have active at once?

Just my penny's worth (not worth even 2 cents).

If they really want to do something - Project Ara. So, when the time comes, and we really need 12GB of RAM, you buy a 12GB module and plug it in. Need more internal storage? A faster chipset? A <whatever>? Buy it and plug it in. Don't replace the whole phone, replace the parts. (And watch out for those wings on the pigs.)

Yes I want true active Sims. If Nokia can do it on a very well made phone at a decent price so can Google.

My list:

• End to end encrypted message service like iMessage, built into every shipping Android phone. capable of sending large files and original size photos.

• No notch like pixel 3.

• More color options

• Notification LED.

• Always on display like samsungs (ie better, more useful, more information and customization options)

• Samsung Pay like ability to pay at almost any terminal, not just with nfc.

Dropping the led notification light in favor of always on display was another fail I forgot about. Good call.

6 GB or RAM
Esim use instead of the sim card. I know the esim is in all the phones, but it is only used on Project Fi
New GPS chip I read about that will pinpoint your location to 10 feet. Great help for navigation.

Overall I am very happy with the 3XL so minor changes

From what I understand the Esim is available for other carriers, they just don't use them yet.

Along with bigger battery and more RAM, I would also like to see some sort of facial recognition.
