1. 16:9 display. Keep the same great height and use the extra width for wider keyboard, larger battery and more RAM.
Larger battery of course. More RAM? I really can't use enough of the 4GB in my Pixel 2 to need more.
2. Reverse the position of the Power Button and Volume controls. The Power Button is used more frequently and easier to reach in the middle of the phone. Even better: eliminate the Power Button and make the fingerprint reader dual-purpose (as on LG G6); you press it and it acts like a Power Button.
Okay, but set the buttons do that the center of the edges are clear, so an Otterbox case will fit the holster in either position. (How's that for nit-picking?)
3. Double-tap the screen (and draw pattern) to wake so you don’t have to pick it up, such as when cooking.
Nova Launcher.
4. When a timer is set, a double-tap should display the remaining time.
My Pixel 2 shows remaining time if I just pull down the shade.
5. Custom text notification sounds so that you know who sent a text without looking. Textra has this, but why force users to another app?
One of those "someone at Google had an idea" things. It weas there from the beginning to - was it Oreo?
6. Free phones! All my data is probably worth much more than Google admits.
And a younger body and a longer life while you're at it.
I only have 2 requests;
1 - No bugs/issues at launch. Failing this, please Google, test before releasing hardware.
They call that "beta testing". Betas aren't so you can see the new version before it's released, it's so you can hammer on it and report bugs. No one does. Google tests, they release betas. From then on, it's up to us. So blame us - the beta users.
Pixel 3 design, features with the following changes:
2. True dual SIM
You mean dual active SIM (as opposed to dual standby.) That increases the price - (basically you have 2 radios, one for each SIM).
And an SD card and a removable battery? They consider the notch moving forward. Everyone else is doing it.
Honestly I would stop at 6GB. 8GB of ram would definitely impact battery life.
Ram just being refreshed (or static RAM) doesn't actually draw much. But 6GB today is more than enough. Android can kill apps when needed, and how many apps can you have active at once?
Just my penny's worth (not worth even 2 cents).
If they really want to do something - Project Ara. So, when the time comes, and we really need 12GB of RAM, you buy a 12GB module and plug it in. Need more internal storage? A faster chipset? A <whatever>? Buy it and plug it in. Don't replace the whole phone, replace the parts. (And watch out for those wings on the pigs.)
