Pixel 3 XL - Hidden Notch

That's another option , but it puts everything underneath the status bar while this app keeps notification in the status bar.

I didn't like nacho because it had rounded corners below the notch. The other one below works better but a little harder to set up.
I prefer the notch so I don't use anything.

I agree notch doesn't bother me either, I like Google to implement it like other phone manufacturers which keeps the notification in the status bar blacked out . I like status bar app because I can make it different color and little more customization.

Re: Notch haters, I've found a solution!

Yeah Nacho Notch is great, however the only thing I don't like is that if the navigation bar goes white (like when you open Gmail), the nav buttons don't change to the dark grey, they stay white and blend into the white background.

Not a big deal, but just a little nit-pick.

I'd like Google to release an update with the option to hide the notch like Nacho Notch but keep the nav bar working normally.

They must have fixed the issue because it no longer does this. Just opened Gmail app to check.

This issue has been fixed and now can be changed in settings.

It still has the white navigation buttons for me?

I tried nacho out, but gave up since the dev has never provided an update to fix all the bugs. Good idea, needs polish.

Why Google drops everything down below the blacked out notch area just BEYOND me. Such a crazy move on their end especially that most other OEMs keep everything in the same location when you hide it. I have OnePlus 6T and they do that perfectly. Why Google, why?? Such an amateur move.

Because the setting is for develops to see how their app behavior appears on a device with no cutout. It's not meant to solve what we're asking for.

But that is the thing. Google seems to becoming more and more like apple. Forcing things on consumers instead of giving them options to choose what they like (in this case, hide that stupid looking notch without losing a chunk of that screen). Not that hard to do, really. It's very disappointing.

Right, I'm saying they didn't even attempt to solve this problem, people are using an option meant for something totally different and then complaining about it being a poor fit.

Google's fault LOL. we are on the same page. Cheers.

Re: Notch haters, I've found a solution!

Oh, yeah I don't like doing that.

I've uninstalled Nacho Notch and moved back to the hidden notch setting in developer settings.

That's what I'm doing too, if/until Google decides to do something. If they don't, my 3 XL looks just like my old 2 XL and I'm fine with that.
