Pixel 3 XL not launching Android Auto on Car Screen

My Pixel 3 XL does not launch Android Auto on my car screen. However, my wife's Galaxy Note 9 launches it without any problems. I tried several different cables including Anker cable and Google's own Type C to A USB but sadly I have not had any luck so far. Has anyone had a similar problem?
