Currently I am on Verizon with a Note 8 on one line, and a Pixel 2XL on the other line. I need to expand to more phone numbers for my business. I just signed up for an AT&T business account and tried to connect the eSIM on the Pixel 2XL to AT&T, but couldn't get it working. After further research, it seems that the Pixel 2XL's eSIM can only connect to project FI. I'm not interested in project FI since I need to take advantage of Verizon's rural coverage.

I need to find a phone that will allow dual SIM's that will either work on Verizon with both lines, or Verizon as my Primary line and AT&T on the second SIM or eSIM. The Oneplus 6T will do it with two SIM's, but it is VoLTE only on Verizon and since I travel regularly in rural area's, I need the 4G/3G/2G CDMA support on Verizon.

The Blackberry Key2 LE is supported by Verizon and now sold by Verizon Business from what I have read, so I might be able to get a dual SIM Blackberry, but still prefer the Pixel.

Samsung makes dual SIM Note 8 and 9's, but I don't know if I could get them to work on Verizon's network.

The iPhones will do what I need, but I'm trying to do everything I can not to have to get an iPhone.

After reading this article,

https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-3-esim-918312/

I am wondering if it would be possible to get a Pixel 3XL to work. Neither Verizon or AT&T have any idea, they just keep saying iPhone's will work.

Has anyone succeeded in getting the Pixel 3/3XL to work with two lines on one carrier, or two different carriers?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The 3 is the same as the 2 - eSIM for Fi only.

Most dual SIM phones are for non-America use, meaning Europe and Asia, mainly, so they won't support CDMA and they won't support all the bands used by US carriers. (Don't feel bad - I used to have 5 phones on my belt.) Look for feature phones - they're a lot smaller, so you can carry 2 in one pocket.

The Android Authority article is correct. The Pixel 2's eSIM is locked to Google Fi only, the Pixel 3's eSIM is not. It should also be noted that the Verizon model of the Pixel 3 does not have eSIM.

In order for the esim to work on the pixel 3 it has to be supported by the carrier and as far as I know it's not supported on Verizon or AT&t yet.

That's it exactly. The Pixel 2 eSIM is locked to Google Fi; therefore, will only ever work on Google Fi. The Pixel 3 eSIM is not locked to Google Fi. However, as you have correctly pointed out, it has to be supported by the carrier. As yet, that hasn't happened on Verizon or AT&T.

I think your right Mike remember I had that sim tray problem awhile back I was trying the esim part and I remember it saying your carrier has to support it which neither of mine did .

That was the root of your problem?

I called Google and talked to two different support agents. One Pixel tech support, and one Google FI agent. They both said that the eSIM on the Pixel 3/3XL is locked to project FI.

Actually it was stated in tips and tricks in settings

The setup nomenclature that came with Pixel stated that it would work on other carriers as long as carrier support was available.
