At launch here the 3XL was more expensive than the Note 9. Who in their right mind would pay more for less?

Seems history will be repeating itself again.

( and going on the current exchange rate, the prices above look accurate for us here in the UK. In the US you will probably pay considerably less. And get a free Buick or some ****e .)

I think its a fever. You get updates faster. It has a better camera.

Its a year behind.

There will be plenty of folks who will buy it.

Just because someone wants to pay more for something doesn't make them out of their mind. Maybe it's exactly what they want and it's also possible they can afford it.

I don't think it's a matter of can't afford it , as there options to buy the pixel through carrier financing or Google own .

It has been my opinion, for quite some time, that people complain about the price of things because they can't afford them.

I lasted a couple of weeks with my 3XL.

Might pick up a 4XL to play with, but might not this time.

Don't forget that Pixel 3 was $800 for 64gb and 4gb of RAM. so $900+ this year is not that unrealistic for pixel 4 64gb and 6gb RAM. unless you really think Google going to give you all that and Project Soli features for the same price as Pixel 3. If you do, I think you have way too much faith in greedy corporation that want nothing except your money (from apple to Samsung to Google).

So a pixel 4 close to the $1,000 mark is not a crazy price (for them).

Again, unless Google is planning to be very aggressive against Apple and Samsung (selling pixel 4 for the price of pixel 3), expect the price of the base model to be $900 and up. With the pixel 3a officially being their budget phone, expect $900+. Easy justification for them.

And unless people stop paying these ridiculous prices they will keep going up.

Not true in a lot of cases.
I can buy any phone I want but refuse to overpay for hype. I don’t fall for marketing gimmicks.
People can buy anything they want.

Seems like a lot of other phones has more to offer.

Google just don't want to step up on the plate with what they offer.

You asked for an example of how lower sales can lead to lower prices.
Apple began the trend of extremely high prices for smartphones and was, I believe, the first to go above $1000.
iPhone sales flattened for them and then lowered.
This year, Apples iPhone 11 is actually cheaper that last years equal model. While I can’t prove a direct correlation it has been widely speculated that cheaper prices, especially Android phones, have caused the lower sales for Apple. Thus the lowering of prices makes sense.

I knew that. As far as I am concerned, people who make comments like that don't deserve a reply.

As far as the price/complain thing, I think a lot of people complain about the price because they can't afford the item.
