I saw JerryRigEverything's durability video where the P4XL failed the bend test. As a step to mitigate I ended up getting a Spigen Thin Fit to add some rigidity. I usually hate cases and this one was no different. Ended up removing it. Which in and of itself worried me.

Anyone know if there is a real issue with bending for the P4XL?

As I recall it took quite a lot of force to get it to bend in his test. Other than that I cannot see another scenario where it might be subject to getting bent as long as you don’t sit on it while it’s in a back pocket. I see people sitting on their phones all the time which I personally think is a foolish risk with any phone.

Yeah I don't get that at all. I've put phones in my back pocket before but never say on one

I'm not looking to test it out but so far in a case few drops no issues .

I picked up the Google fabric case ..nice feel in hand other than bottom is open ..Verizon had it for $20 ...

Got the same Google fabric case. Can't complain... But not my favorite. Send to do a good job thus far

My phone was sitting on my lap while I was driving and someone cut me off. Had to hit the brakes and the phone flew forward and hit my ankle/foot. Picked it up, all good. Dunno how much of that was tech21 and how much was pixel durability but either way it came up alright.

Why was your phone sitting on your lap while driving?

When working I got in a habit of sitting all the time on my phone in my right rear pocket. Many times, no access to a top pocket, no room on a belt for a case, uncomfortable in the front pocket and besides hard to get anything into or out of the front pocket due to "items" on the belt that get in the way. Therefore, the rear right was convenient.

Even today being retired I still place my LG G7 in my rear pocket, sit on it while driving, walk around with it unless wearing a coat and never in my life have I ever cracked a phone. Still have a blocked access to front right, and front left has my keys, knife, and a carabiner.

Now, I'm looking to replace my LG cause I hate LG's interface and purchased a S20+; however, the fingerprint sensor would not recognize my right thumb regardless of how many time I tried (accepted other digits), so that went back the day after I received it.

So was thinking of the Pixel 4XL but now; not too darn sure. Hard to break an old retired stubborn goat of his habits.

I wonder how the dreaded iPhone Max would hold up in my pocket?

Good info on this forum.....

But bummer, I was seriously thinking of ordering since it is on sale for $749 at quite a few locations.

Dropped mine in the bathroom a few weeks ago and shattered the edges of the screen protector. Just about had a heart attack. Ordered a thicker screen protector and no problems so far.

After almost a week, I have to believe it is more durable than noted by online you tube reviewers.

My Pixel 4 XL recently got water into the camera lens -- the camera finder was blurry and all my photos/videos were blurry. All I did was rinse it through some light water like I do every now and then. For whatever reason, this time, water got in.

Isn't this thing supposed to be IP68?

I called Google and they basically said wear and tear can compromise the IP rating. I told them I babied my phone, which I do. They said repeated exposure to water could also compromise the rating. I replied that I rarely rinse it, and the 68 rating means it can withstand being underwater for 30 mins at a certain depth -- it makes no sense a small rinse should compromise it.

They basically didn't know anything and only offered a repair with uBreakIt. In the end, I told them, forget it.

That's Google hardware for you and Google customer service for you.

FYI, I also occasionally rinse my iPhone and Samsung devices that also have IP68. Been doing this for years, and no problem with them.
