Pixel 4a/5g suddenly can't text a certain person

Hi. I have a 4a5g that has been working flawlessly. Both my husband and I are on Verizon. About 2 weeks ago, my text messages quit being delivered to my husband, who has a Galaxy Note 9. Messages in a group text WILL be delivered, but single messages to him fail. Both phones are up to date (me: Android 12; him, Android 10). We are both using the provided messaging app. Verizon support says do a reset but I'm hoping there is some other solution? Any ideas?

Maybe its a problem with RCS Chat -- I've heard about it being a bit wonky with Samsung's implementation. On his phone, go to the Messages app's settings and try turning off Chat features, then see if your messages come through.

Thanks, all, for the comments. I ended up deleting and re-adding his contact info, and deleting our prior message thread, and that seems to have settled things down.
