I really like the smaller size, but not too small.

Previous phone was a Moto G5S Plus. I put my phone in my shirt pocket, and I got tired of my shirt dragged down on the left side by a big phone. Pixel is now perfect. My eyes can just handle it.

I also have an iPhone 7 for work, it's slightly smaller overall, but the Pixel screen is so much bigger, because the iPhone is drunk on bezel.

I just pulled out the Moto and it feels like such a huge slab now.

I agree!
I loved the 3a actually and felt it was perfect in size but now the 4a, with larger screen size but smaller overall size, is even better!

I feel like every Pixel line has done an excellent job in manufacturing phones with a smooth, comfortable form factor. Glad you are enjoying the size of the 4a!

I've really appreciated the Pixel 4a's size, too. So many other phones now are phablet size and so it really narrows the playing field when choosing a new phone.

I hear you! I'm not a huge fan of phablets - I truly dislike them, actually! I didn't think I'd be able to handle my 6.1" S10 but thankfully they did a wonderful job with its footprint. With that being said, the Pixel 2, at 5", was the perfect phone to hold in the hand.

Can't wait to hold the 4a line in person to see what it's like! :)

I'm enjoying the size as well. My thumb is appreciating the smaller range of motion.

I had to laugh yesterday, though, as someone called it "too small". This same person used to mock my Galaxy Note 2 and call it an ipad ("why are you holding your ipad up to your ear")
Galaxy Note 2 - 5.5"
Pixel 4a - 5.8"
Funny how perceptions change over time.

It is definitely crazy how things like perception of like screen size change over time! I remember thinking my BlackBerry Bold was a great size. Now, I don't think so!

Just got my 4a. In its Spigen Tough Armor case, it is almost identical in size to my Pixel 1 in its Spigen case.

So far (1.5 days) I am pretty happy. My P1 had gotten laggy, and would shut down at about 30% battery. I haven't had time to do a battery rundown on the P4a yet. The new swipe gestures and lack of buttons at the bottom is taking some practice. But so far the P4a is a great upgrade from the P1.

That's so awesome! How are you liking it?

Just too small for my liking. I'm just to used to 6.2-6.9 inch devices. The 4a felt like a toy. So much more screen real estate on the bigger flagships. How anyone can use that iPhone SE at 4.7. is simply beyond me.

You can add the navigation buttons to your screen. Go into settings and search for "navigation". Click on " System Navigation/Gesture Navigation". There you can choose "3 button navigation". The three buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Given the aspect ratios differences, I wonder which one has more sqaure screen area total. Once phones moved away from a consistent 16:9 ratio, I felt it odd that everyone still referred to the diagonal as the end all be all in screen size when the object of canparjson was not comparable.

I'm sure the Note 2 was much bigger footprint with the bezels and SPen slot.

Thanks! I hadn't had time to look into that. My wife also needs a new phone, and if she goes for a P4a, she'd never get used to the gesture navigation.

I said the same thing awhile back. But I figured that's the direction they were going so I started using it on my Pixel 3 since they had just introduced it while I had it. They made it sound like going forward that's all they would have on them. So, knowing I had 2 & 3 button gestures to fall back on (on that phone) I started using it, and now it's second nature to the point I try using them when firing up older phones. You'll get used to it, it just takes some time.
