Pixel 5 under display speaker

@juwster - what, specifically, is the issue with porting out?

Thanks for offering to help. I had two phones on Sprint. Ported the numbers to Google Fi. That went through with no issues. After 5 days the speaker issue became the reason for wanting to return the phones. I went back to Sprint which of course is now TMobile and they tried to port the number over to a new account and the numbers will not port. I opened a new account with T-Mobile to determine if that would help. Called Google Fi last night because one of the numbers is now inactive because it has been removed from my group. Google Fi was not able to activate the number again. Basically one of the numbers will not work at all. It will not work on Google Fi or T-Mobile. Although one of the numbers does work the other number still works on Google Fi.

I have no idea if you can follow this or not as I can barely understand the process I have had to go through but I am new to Google Fi and have no idea of the process.

Gosh, that's quite the pickle. Unfortunately, I'm not that deep in Fi to have the knowledge on this kind of issue. How long has it been since you ported from Sprint? Is it just the 5 days it took you to decide you didn't like the phone? I have to wonder if the port somehow was incomplete, rendering the numbers ineligible to port out until the port finished.

For what it's worth - the Pixel is no longer the only device you can use on Fi, Samsung is now an option also.

Yes, they were able to get the one device onto Fi by putting the sims card into it for me. It is a Samsung S10+. At least for now it is working. The other device is a Samsung Note 8 and it is the one that is not working at this time.
It could be the time frame issue of 5 days. I am calling Fi again to see if they can be of any help. My main concern now is keeping these phone numbers we have had for so many years.
I really wish the Pixel 5 would have worked. But for the speaker issue I really did like the phone.
Thanks again for your help!

Stang, I believe you've had a Pixel 3xl before. How does that compare to the P5 sound quality on phone calls?
Yeah, had that before, I didn't like the in call quality on the pixel 3xl ,pixel 4xl which I still have is better for in call quality, pixel 5 is same for in quality call as pixel 3xl to me but better then it for speaker phone call as far as I can remember. This on T-Mobile SIM and Att

I'm still testing everything on pixel 5 , I'll know more in coming days .

Thanks again for the info. I'm still packing the P3xl (which is why I really want to move on) and am satisfied with the speakers on it. Sounds like the P5 will work for me. I just couldn't like the P4 because the battery wasn't a real improvement over the P3 and I was getting tired of paying top dollar for a phone that had significant flaws.

So far with pixel 5 in call is good enough , speaker calls very good . I like to see a update fix in call sound little bit more if they can . But should be ok for most and plus Bluetooth is no issue for calls .

Been reading these speakers are just terrible from both reviewers and users. Wanted to move on from my 3XL but might wait. I know Verizon's Black Friday deal will be solid so that might entice me.

Can you hear me now?

I went into Best Buy this morning and compared the pixel 5 with the 4a5g. To my untrained ears the 4a5g sounded much better. Of course no smartphone speakers sound very good. However, the pixel 5 sounded more like the speakers on a 10 year old flip phone to me.

To me the P5 sounds ok but for sure not great. I have a p3a and that also sound better. The bottom speaker sounds great it's the In display speaker that is much lower. If you cover the speakers grill from the p3a as an example you have the same type of sound. For me the trade off of having a bezeless display is worth it. I would of liked to see a tiny tiny tiny little speaker grill at the top even if it meant having the smallest forehead like I mean a really thin forehead but also making the bottom have the same so it's symmetrical.. overall in happy though.

This is good to know. I'm thinking we will be leaning toward the 4a 5G for my wife.

So far using the pixel 5 over the weekend , no issues with speaker phone or in calls volume .

The 5 is a phone I might take a chance with for me. But my wife has hearing loss, so the possibility of a mediocre speaker isn't a chance we want to take.

For phone calls, speaker phone or even consuming media / listening to music the speaker is super loud. I was comparing to stereo and fullness sound quality.
