Hi All,

I got my Pixel 6 about two months ago and unlike many, haven't had any of the various issues that people are posting about. That being said, I've noticed that while I'm in my office, my "UC" indicator comes and goes frequently. By frequently it can be dozens of times per minute. The phone still shows 5G the entire time but "UC" symbol on the phone comes and goes. I can't be 100% sure but I believe this is causing some battery issues while I'm in office.

The problem does not exist at home (not horribly far from my office) but honestly I'm almost always connected to WiFi at home so maybe I couldn't tell if it is happening at home also.

Is this just normal behavior ? Something that I should be contacting Google to replace the phone? Antenna problem? Not a problem at all and just annoying to see the symbol come and go so often?

Thank you!

Welcome to AC!
Try rebooting your device if still happening go to settings>reset network

Welcome to Android Central! Are you on T-Mobile, or another carrier? I think 5G UC is T-Mobile's terminology, but I'm not sure if any other carriers use it as well.

It's always possible your office is on the borderline of getting 5G UC, so it keeps turning on and off. Does it also do that if you step outside?

Hi!

So a couple points:
(1) T-Mobile :)
(2) According to their map, my entire region is very much in the UC category
(3) Does happen occasionally outdoors but not like in office at all
(4) Reboots don't help, will try the reset network

Hi, ok try the network reset and see if it fixes it .

T-Mobile's 5G UC encompasses both midband and mm-wave 5G. Mm-wave is the one that's the fastest but has trouble penetrating buildings. I'm not sure if there's an app that can tell you which kind of 5G the phone is connecting with, so it might be worth calling T-Mobile support and asking them if the 5G network where your office is located is midband or mm-wave.
