I don't really understand that model, the Pixel 6 is getting very good deals getting both prices very close and it's a much better phone. The 6 GB of RAM and the 60hz refresh rate are very low specs when compared with other models in the same price level.
I just did the same for my wife. I'm trading in my Pixel 4a for the P6a to replace her Pixel 4a. I'll use her P4a as a backup for my Pixel 6 Pro. If for some reason she doesn't like the 6a I'll take that one as a backup. Also getting another Buds A free with this preorder.Just pulled the trigger. $300 for Pixel 4a trade in. So I got it for slightly under $200. At that price it was a no brainer IMO. Sure the 60 hertz is a bummer. But the supposed better faster fingerprint scanner than on the pixel 6, makes up for it.
Doesn't look good![]()

Said also fingprint scanner slow , the hype build up to that was better then 6 series flagship, 60hz isn't bad but having choppy hopefully can be fixed software update because ive used Samsung/Pixel device's with 60hz smooth as butter. This is the only review I've seen/read on the Pixel 6A that was kind of harsh. Marques Brownlee complains about the 60Hz display being "not smooth", which is the only review I've read that said it wasn't smooth. He admits he's coming from a 120Hz and 165Hz phones so he might be overly sensitive to it. After seeing/reading many of his reviews it seems he's in love with Samsung flagship phones (which is a very nice choice.)
Slower than 90Hz and/or 120Hz I've heard but "not smooth" or "choppy", no. Another reviewer said he thought the 6A was faster and smoother than the 5A and attributed that to the the Tensor chip. Others have been almost universally praising the phone, though they do note it is a 60Hz display. This seems to be the biggest knock against it. However, if you are coming from an older 60Hz phone to the Pixel 6A at 60Hz you won't notice a difference.
Brownlee summarizes by saying if you value the Pixel software experience and the excellent camera over everything else, then this phone is for you. Well, dang, that pretty much describes me.

Only one way to find out is to get it and find out real world results , should have 14 day window to decide.Yes, but other reviewers have said the 6a fingerprint reader is faster than the 6. I wonder if Brownlee got a lemon.
I have read the Pixel 6a was released with the April 2022 software updates. This is similar to when I got my 5a in late August and it had the May 2021 software update.
I agree with both of your posts. Brownlee's review was the first 6a review I watched and my first reaction about his comment about the 60Hz screen was BFD! Still is. Other reviewers make mention of it but aren't hyperbolically fatalistic about it as he is. My wife and I have the Pixel 4a and when I got my Pixel 6 Pro I can't say I was overly impressed with P6P screen as I hoped I would be based on all the huzzahs about 120Hz screens. Since the 6a will be replacing my wife's 4a the 6a's screen rate will be of zero consequence.Yes, but other reviewers have said the 6a fingerprint reader is faster than the 6. I wonder if Brownlee got a lemon.
