I find it hard to believe that there is a noticeable difference between the 8 and 8 Pro. 4gb less ram will not make any difference in benchmarks for GB6 and the like. Certainly not 15%. The CPU is much more important than ram as long as ram is not a bottleneck and 8gb of ram should be more than enough. Plus the screen is running 1080p vs close to 1440p which should save some battery and increase just a little performance.

In terms of thermals the bigger the device the better heat dissipation is going to be. Since these are passively cooled devices you can't get around physics so theoretically the Pixel 8 Pro should have better cooling.

Compared to the Tensor G2, the Tensor G3 runs a lot cooler and is a lot more efficient. The modem is better too.

So will the Pixel 8 Pro perform an insignificant but faster and run an insignificant but cooler? Probably but the difference should be pretty minimal and you are saving $300 so I would call it a wash and a nothing burger.
