I actually wonder the same thing. I got that message when I set mine up but, like you, the app would not run. At dinner point I got on the computer to do it, and started, but didn't feel like doing everything they wanted me to, so I just cleared the window... haven't noticed any issues, and it was weeks ago. I too have a official SIM I just moved over from my previous phone.
