Pixel and Pixel XL to At&t

yes, that video calling feature does come in handy. I don't use any of the AT&T back up services so that's no biggie for me either.

is LTE working for you on your verizon pixel xl on the at&t network if so whats your apn settings?

i am curious more about the verizon pxel xl people b/c my wifes pixel xl from google works on lte but mine isnt

Have to believe AT&T selling the phone is imminent. picked up a Gear S3 yesterday was surprised to find AT&T Numbersync fully functional!

Why don't you guys just buy it unlocked? Like what's the advantage of going through the carrier?

Because I don't have $600 all at once to shell out for a new phone but I do have an extra $30 a month for an interest free loan.

You could finance through the Google Store (although that does require a credit check) and pay about $27 per month

One thing though – Going through AT&T you would only have to pay half of the phone out of pocket over 12 months if you do the AT&T Every Year (or whatever its called) and then the person can just upgrade next year when Pixel 2 comes in instead of paying the full price. I was trying to hold out for that reason, but just said F it. Sold my 6P for $300 to put towards Pixel and if I decide to upgrade I will just sell my Pixel next year.

Yeah you do have to make the 12 payments and you have to trade in your device. I will never buy a phone from a carrier again, or be under contract.

A bit note of WARNING to ATT customers looking to by a Google Pixel...

I bought a Pixel and tried setting it up and had an awful time getting the hotspot / tethering function to work, then when I finally did (after hours on the phone with Google and ATT), it was VASTLY slower than my old iPhone 5 (even with 5 bars of reception) ... tried using WiFi, Bluetooth and even USB tethering ... all vastly slower. So a big fail there...

Then, the Pixel wouldn't attach or stay attached via Bluetooth either to my 3 year old MacBook Pro or my 2 year old Subaru, and it when it did occasionally attach to my Subaru the hands-free voice feature still didn't work through my car's Bluetooth. I would play music from the phone, but not connect to the phone. And all the settings were set up properly on the phone. Another big fail..

I had high hopes for using the Pixel on my ATT account as I haven't been really wowed by the new iPhone, but at this point I'm returning the Pixel and getting an iPhone 7 ... lesson learned ... never buy a device that isn't offered through my carrier.

Sounds like you got a lemon. I'm using a Pixel XL on AT&T and it works perfectly. I have none of the issues you mention.

At the risk of leaving another "me too" post - I am using AT&T on my Pixel and everything works great (except for the known limitations of wifi calling and VoLTE). I noticed that if I look at my account on the ATT website, it actually shows and identifies my device as a Google Pixel (even has the picture of the phone) SO it appears that they are looking at officially supporting the phone.

Please don't get your hopes up too much about the Pixel coming to AT&T. On the ATT forum they make it pretty clear that Google is contracting its phone out in an unlocked status only and Verizon is one of the only carriers that does that which is why they have this phone exclusively. ATT sells locked phones only, according to their site, which is unacceptable to Google. So the options remain to buy it at Best Buy or finance at the Google Store and you can use it through whatever carrier because it is unlocked, or you can go with Verizon. I am with ATT and was very disappointed to find this out because I was also told that eventually it would probably come to att...:'(

There is only one pixel. Verizon locks the boot loader and restricts updates. Buy from Google and you can put it on Verizon or at$t.

Verizon pixels do have locked bootloader, but they don't restrict updates and the Verizon phones will work on the same networks as the Google purchased phones do.
