Pixel and VZW WiFi calling

So I know the Pixel you buy from VZW will support wifi calling. However, my question is, will wifi calling work on a Google store version when I insert my VZW SIM?

I tried an unlocked Gs7 Edge and it would not work. I had to get the VZW version.

I'd rather have the Google store version, but WiFi calling has turned into a must have for my concrete encapsulated office environment. I don't want to go backwards.

Yes it does. And VOLTE. Not 100% clear on LTE-A yet, but it should work.

I guess I'm going to order and unlocked version and hope it works without issue. If not, I'll just return it and get the VZW version.

There has been conflicting information on updates, but everything else seems to indicate the phones are absolutely identical.

They have different firmware, different bootloaders, etc. On the Verizon version, firmware updates, such as from 7.1 to 7.1.1 or 7.2 or whatever is after that will come from Verizon, while monthly security updates will come from Google. On the Google version, obviously everything comes from Google.

Anyone have anymore information on this? I desperately want to buy directly from Google, but I NEED Wifi calling, I can't find confirmation one way or the other

"Google has confirmed that the Pixel smartphones will support WiFi calling for both T-Mobile and Verizon upon launch."

It doesn't specify whether it will work on ALL pixels, but I'm assuming since t-mobile isn't selling it, that it can be inferred?

It will work. All pixels. The Verizon version is running the same software so if it works when sold by Verizon it will work with Google.

This is pretty critical for me. I won't buy the Pixel XL through Verizon as I don't want to be beholden to Verizon for updates. On the other hand, if I can't use WiFi calling then it's a showstopper for me, as my house has terrible reception. This is really keeping me from preordering right now
