Not sure. So frustrated right now with this. another person at this link did a Factory Reset and it did not fix the issue, although the newest poster did have success (but for how long?)...

At this support Google link an expert is recommending contacting google 1:1 support through a link in the top "most helpful" post...

I urge more people to engage the 1:1 support that the "best answer" states we should do (that's what I did but I did it from my Pixel early on in this process). If you like, reference my Case ID ( Case ID [7-6870000019161]) and state you are having the same issue. This needs more push.

Caved and did Factory Reset. Have already received a text. Initial feedback is that things are good. When Factory resetting, I chose "copy data" (as opposed to start fresh), "don't have old phone", "backup from cloud". Will report back later and definitely if the issue comes back. BS that this is what was needed but I've been 3 weeks without a "nice to have" like receiving texts...
Had to get a new sim card, it was transferred from Mini S4, didn't help sooo Factory reset. Working so far.
My Pixel from Google Project Fi also lost the ability to receive text messages after updating to Oreo. After trying many of the suggestions here, I found that if I disabled the stock "Messages" app, I can receive text messages using "Hangouts". It is not my preferred app ... but it does work.
Concerned though... because here it implies that it is just a notification bug that is fixed (where people are just missing the notification but if they go into Android Messages they see their messages).. That is not the same as what I and many in this trail have found... we don't get the messages at all.
Polar135, when you did the reset, did you receive any missed messages that previously hadn't come through?
I didn't receive the missed messages. I have not heard of anyone who reported doing the factory reset that did get the missed messages.

They did not come back. I had copies or had read them as i use the VZW Messages+ app on my tablet and laptops.

After a week and a half of not receiving texts and Google told me they were working on the problem and I had to wait for another update, I did the system reset and it fixed it. It's kind of a pain reloading everything but it worked.

I found the fix yesterday, sign up to Android beta and download 8.1 and the texts you missed will all come pouring in. I did it last night, and luckily I was only about a week and a half behind before I noticed the problem and found the fix.
Spread the word, I know this was frustrating to me and it seems like many websites are mentioning the problem.
