My wife has been dealing with this for several weeks. With today's security update, NOV 5, the additional tweaks seem to have fixed the SMS issue! Update now, for those effected.

Yo!!! I found a solution! If you have Cricket go to your settings and copy this 
There's probably an equivalent instruction you can find for other carriers. It worked for me and hopefully will work for all of you
