I am still debating over 32 or 128.... I can easily get by with 32 but 128 is future proofing.. Now I don't really need to future proof because next year I'll buy again... The struggle is real!

Pixel in black that's for sure...

Seems to me that future proofing is a very short term prospect in the world of mobile phones.

I meant future proofing for myself... I have a TB of Google drive space and pretty much keep everything in the cloud.. I just checked and my TB does not expire until 2018 so I will now just snag the Pixel (non XL) 32GB in Black!

CC at the ready for today's announcement. I hope pre-orders go live today and that Google ships em lickety-split!

I've had the 32GB Note 4 for 2 years now. The first year I had a 32GB SD Card installed, but then it failed. I only had about 4GB of music on it, so i just moved it to my internal storage. I find that 32GB is just barely enough. Mostly my pictures and videos are what take up space. I do a dump to my PC every 4-6 months (even though i use Google Photos backup).

So while I could probably get by with 32GB, 128 will be much better, especially with (i'm assuming) 4k recording on the Pixel.

It just sucks that all companies charge $100 for an upgrade in storage that only costs them $2 - 5.

My 32GB GS4 has 4.39GB available space. My 64GB SD card (where I put all my data files) still has 47.55GB available. 32GB is useless to me too. For me, 64GB is the minimum acceptable internal storage I am willing to buy unless I have the option to expand storage with an SD card. Ergo the 5X was never on my radar, but the 6P definitely was.

I don't think I've ever had an SD card failure that I can recall.

price start at 57000 rupees($877) in india and pixel xl can cost upto 67000 rupees ($1031). and with this now it has entered the range of Iphone.

These prices be way too dam high for me, but it is Google's own phone so I expect it to be very good. I wonder is it really worth it over the other flagships?

Maybe the price is what Hiroshi Lockheimer was talking about.

that Google has finally gone bananas with this ridiculous pricing? :)

we are not still using smartphone by then)

Man, they are way too expensive, I was like "nice, it looks really nice" then when I looked at the price I wanted to close the streaming...

that's the difference between iPhones and Pixel phones. iPhone users watching new iPhone release video streams already have their credit cards and large pots of coffees out... ready to order at 12:01AM on pre-order day. A few nut-ball die-hard iPhone fans have already camped outside Apple Stores.

with the Pixel, most average smartphone users are paying very little attention... so far.

When I first saw the leaked price of $419.99 for the Pixel XL/128 yesterday morning, I thought, yeah, I can definitely be interested in this phone. Later, I discovered this was the Verizon price. And now, looking at the VZW site, I don't see that price at all. Just $36.24/month or $869.99 retail price.

Regardless, when the ~$870 price was confirmed, my interest sank to zero. And thus, I'm surprised and somewhat saddened that no 2016 flagship phone really commands any interest from me. That's partly if not mostly due to a value perspective on my part. I simply see little value in spending nearly $1000 on a smartphone that will be obsolete/unsupported in 2 years or less... with the possible exception of the iPhone and maybe the Pixel... but less so the Pixel since Google doesn't promise support past 2 years for the OS. Even my wife's iPhone5 from 2013 still gets updates and is running 10.0.x right now.

And while I seriously considered the iP7+/128, I simply couldn't generate enough interest in iOS to spend the money, even though I could likely sell it next year and still get a good price on it, if I kept it pristine (which I normally do). The Pixel is in uncharted waters in that regard.

I really wanted to go Nexus this time around for the timely updates. But then it became Pixel. And when the Pixel was confirmed in all its splendor yesterday, IMO it became too much $ for too little ... or in my terms, did not offer value to me.

So I ordered the OP3 and hope that will work out well.
