Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Coming from Moto phones on VZW, I was surprised how readily the Pixel switches to Wifi Calling. My office has always been a crappy VZW reception area and I haven't had a single missed or dropped call there since switching phones. I am suitably impressed since my Motos would rather hold a crappy cell signal than switch to Wifi, leading to dropped calls.

Well, unfortunately the saga continues for me. Today I discovered I could not have any one send me text messages while I was on the phone on a call as they would disconnect my phone calls completely. Happened to me at least 5 times all from someone texting while I was talking. So far no fix from google. This is starting to aggravate me.

I knew I should have hung on to my blackberry as a backup. Read a lot of stories on line today and some of the things I have read pointed to Nougat. Many articles stated the some of the Nexus phones that didn't have this problem are starting to go through the same thing ever since Nougat was installed on their phones as well

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

So I am currently in the testing stage on my ticket with Verizon. I have had dropped calls, or only one side can hear the other, then they hang up. DBMS are terrible. I downloaded signal check lite and even with the signal unchanged i have issues so I am not sure what's up. This time tomorrow I will see where it's at.

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls?

I am dealing with the same issue. What was your results and experience? Thank you in advance!

Hi miyanc. I'm going through the same thing right now. How did things end for you? Problem fixed? Thanks!

I can't say I'm happy to hear this at all

Hopefully a fix is in play more sooner then later.i know bugs are almost always present in new devices and software but when the primary reason of cell phones is to make calls and one encounters problems in doing just that, it's unacceptable in my opinion

Im have the regular Pixel and have been having a good signal all the time.Im on AT&T. I never had a dropped call with this phone.

Are the ones having signal issue and dropped calls mainly on vzw ?

Terrible signal on Verizon as well. Never show s signal at home. Very little on the road either. The WiFi calling is a life saver.

Same issues here. Bluetooth is spotty and even my wifi signal is lower when I'm in the next room from the router. I'm thinking it's V20 time.

I have no signal at all at home. Not even 3G. It's really irritating. I'm seriously not a happy camper. I love the device but the issues are a serious deal breaker. Without wifi calling... This would be a dud. Almost hurts to say it. I really want to hold out but I need my phone calls to work

I might have to look into the V20. I can't think of any other device that could replace the pixel.

The V20 has mixed reviews. It's large, has LG skin and is apparently great to pretty good for battery life. I'm on hold with Verizon support and my LTE signal is strong right now and Wifi is behaving. WTF? They're going to think I'm lying.

Stick to your guns. The signal on this device is horrible. I can't even send or receive messages

As long as I have wi-fi calling at home I think I am going to stick it out through all this aggravation. Most of my calls I make at home. At least I have that. Let's see how fast google reacts and comes up with something fast. They are already about 10 days into this problem with no fix or nothing offered yet. Thing I noticed tonight is IF I am lucky to have 2 bars and that is a big IF, when I pull my app drawer down, the signal goes down to 1 bar or sometimes none. When I set my phone down on my desk a certain way my 2 bars will go down to 1 or none. I am thinking this is definitely a software issue more so then anything else.

I've owned and used a lot of phones on Verizon's network over the past 11 years and I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life. Sadly my two weeks is up and Verizon already exchanged my first pixel for this one and while I am happy not to experience the "No Sim Card" with this one, I would have thought that would have improved things, but no such luck. If Google wants to become the "Android" of iPhones they are off to a poor start with this one!!!!

Considering that fact that this was "supposed" to be a Verizon exclusive when this first came out it seems that this phone works better on other networks more so then it does on Verizon

I am so sorry I got this phone right now. It makes no sense to me--I can get and send texts via Verizon's message + which is a good app imo. My wifi sucks, but is worse on this phone than on any other. I can make calls, though occasionally the phone drops them, but not often. But I get 1 bar if that on Lte, which means on any given moment that my wifi is crummy, I can't switch to Lte like I used to. I have never gotten 1 bar before. I never been unable to use the data I am paying for before. I am outside the 14 days and I see no point at this point in trying to get another pixel from Verizon without knowing what's wrong. Besides, getting a 128 gb pixel xl seems to take quite a while at the moment and I don't have a back up phone. And several people have had the same problem on a replacement. I am just venting, I am frustrated. Between the Note 7 (2 of them) and this, I am sick of dealing with bad phones. I just want one that works. Is that so much to ask, Google?

All the HTC phones I have had, had poor signal strength. Used to I ranked phones signal strength from best Motorola, LG, HTC, and Samsung with the worst. I haven't had a Samsung in years, so I don't know how they are nowadays. But HTC still has crappy antennas. If it's a hardware issue, then Google won't be able to do much to fix it. Oh, I have never had the SIM card missing issues, some have spoken of. And the WiFI signal strength on here is as good or better than my Moto X was. Just the LTE signal is weak as far as my device is concerned.

Funny, this is the worst I have had. My LG G3 was wonky on wifi even when the wifi was working good, but it managed, and it always got great Lte connection. The Note was the best, both on my wifi and Lte. Though way back when I had a galaxy s3, I remember it wasn't great at connecting.

Then they are going to have to do a recall on this otherwise they are going to really **** a lot of people off. Funny thing is I work with a few people that have HTC phones and get great signals on them without dropping calls. I even read that the iPhone 7's have had 4G light connectivity issues as well too, but I think that problem has already been addressed and remedied
