Pixel XL and YouTube issue

This is an issue I noticed about a week after getting my Pixel but figured it was an easy fix. The more I search for a solution the more it looks like that's not the case and now it's driving me crazy.

The problem is that nothing opens in YouTube. If I click on a link outside Chrome it opens a chrome window to either the full site or the mobile. If I click on a link in chrome it just goes to the page. On my N6 and even as far back as my RAZR maxx the YouTube app would open to the video. I have reset default apps, even tried to uninstall and reinstall YouTube updates. To no avail. Anyone else seen this or know a solution?

Quite odd indeed. However, you could always just try using the actual youtube app for your youtube vids? I do completely understand the frustration but there's an easy way out man. Use the YouTube app?

Oh I do that anyways. But it's a pain if you can't copy the title and you have to do a search for every video you are trying to watch.

Also I mean it's a Google app on a Google phone and I know the correct process is to default to an app when possible. Like if I try to go to a forum in a chrome search that supports Tapatalk, it will try to launch in that. That's why this problem is so grating. Not enough to mention earlier I mean I have had the phone 3 weeks now. But still enough.

Any phone I have on 7.0 keeps telling me I have no data connection when I resume YouTube app. It's so annoying. Closing out the app helps but I lose my place and it's frustrating. I think the current version of the YouTube app has bugs when used on Android 7 that I hope they are addressing.

I can completely understand your frustration man. I've been in similar situations myself and it hasn't been a easy journey through. I hope this issue gets resolved for you soon.
