Pixel XL locking up

Has anyone had their Pixel completely lock up? It's happened to me eight or so times over the past couple of weeks. It seems to be completely random and requires a reboot.

Had mine since day 1 and it has been awesome. I have had random apps become unresponsive, but I can just press the home key or multitasking button to escape and close the app. The lack of stutters and overall speed and smoothness has been amazing for me.

Maybe you have an app causing issues?

I had mine lock up and randomly reboot one time since I received it on Oct. 21st. I was actually browsing a website and received a call. I answered the call and when it is was over I tried to push the red phone icon and... nothing. None of the home keys responded or anything. It rebooted/restarted itself after about 15 seconds. No problems since.

The only time I had mine lock up was when I was trying to get to google play music. Every time I hit the icon it just completely lock up. Granted it was about 9 days since I restarted the phone so that may have had something to do with it. After a reboot I was good to go.

I have the same thing going on with certain apps. This is what happens when you're an early adopter to a new OS.

A tech rep at Verizon, who was troubleshooting my problems with my Pixel XL connecting to Lte ( a bit better since) said that the phones should be rebooted once a day, which is more frequently than I have ever heard or done. But I decided to see if that helped. Can't tell if it did, really, but thought the advice interesting.

It's happening to me a few times a day now. If I wait 2-3 minutes it will sometimes unlock itself. Very frustrating.

There's something wrong if you need to reboot anything near that often. I only have 5 days up time now because of the last update. It shouldn't be uncommon to see phones with 30 days up time before the security update. My 6P generally did that, but did have issues now and again due to apps.

There are tools to help find rogue apps but I'm more of a nuke it approach, flash the latest image Google posted and leave it stock for a couple days. Fixed? Then slowly add apps back. Not fixed? You just did the first couple things support is going to ask of you before warranty claim.

Yes it sucks but I'd rather get past the problem than deal with it for the next six months and think the phone is a POS.

I'm currently at 11 days of up time with no issues. How did you get your phone at 30 days before the update when as of now the phone has only been out for 31 days?

Since I did the update right after getting the phone about 10 days ago, I have yet to reboot my Pixel. Only app crash I've had was the google app once when looking at the weather (re-opened it and it was fine). No lockups, no other stability issues.

I have had no crashe.s or stability issues just connectivity ones, and whatever Verizon tweaked while I was on support with them didn't last, since I keep losing LTE whenever and wherever I am. I had never heard of needing to reboot daily, either. I generally get the feeling nobody knows anything and just acts like they do.

I have to restart every 5 days or so because I'll get a bit of lag and my keyboard won't go away when it's supposed to.

Better to hold off sulla1965. I know it might be tough because its a gamble. Some have no issues, some say signal is better then their last phone, some like myself have nothing but dropped calls, very little if lucky 4G lite. I would personally say don't do it yet

For me right now, this thing has so many bugs not even an exterminator can take care of them! And to think people laughed at me for using a blackberry for all these years. I never encountered any issues with my last phone in the 3 years I owned it. Connectivity and signal issues were non existent. It would put the pixel to shame

Just clear the cache in storage every day that should keep everything running smoothly

Geez everytime I seriously think about getting one, I read things like this.
I had to get something, no back up and second Note 7 to return, and I thought Google should have their stuff together with this one, but I wouldn't do it again and I am never buying another phone before it has been out, used and I have read reviews from people who have actually used the thing for at least a month.

I have yet to see it so much as stutter, let alone lock up with extremely heavy usage over the past few weeks. Sounds like an isolated issue - maybe just get a new one from Google? They are super good with RMAs.

This is definitely happening to me, and it's pissing me off. Happened to me 3 times just today already. 1 time it rebooted after locking up. The rest of the times, it eventually fixed itself after 2-3 minutes like you see.
