Pixel XL system update?

I went ahead and sideloaded it as well. Raise to wake is working fine, as is double tap.

I do expect this to take a couple weeks to get into the wild which is why I made the effort to sideload.

Where did you hear that? I hope it comes sooner.

I don't remember exactly. It may have been on Mobile Syrup as I've read so many things on different forums. It added the two features already mentioned and some in Canada also say it changes some of the vibrations and duration of them also changes something it the night mode or whatever as far as the display is nicer or better now. These things are only based on what has been reported and on what I read of course .

It was mentioned by at least one or two on that forum that US would probably not receive this until first or second week of December but don't know if that was purely speculation by a few or where the information came from.

All I know is that I've become extremely obsessive compulsive with my check for update tab as if it's a full time job!

For what it may or may not be worth I just came back from my Verizon Corporate stores as I was looking for another case option and I know how we all feel about dealing with sales associates because of their lack of knowledge etc but I asked him how pixel was selling.

He told me they sell a lot of them and some have issues and some to a lesser extent. He did go on to say that Verizon has a lot of money tied up with the Pixel and they are not going to want to advertise or heavily push a product that is not going to work on their network so he was pretty confident in saying a fix is definitely on the way. His phone has issues with connectivity sometimes too

Unfortunately VZW reps know no more about future fixes than my wife's parakeet.

If I knew for sure Pixel XL will have good reception I would buy one tomorrow.

Could you tell me where you got the update to side load - I am interested in attempting this procedure. If it is applicable to a Verizon Pixel on the "X" build.

At least he's experiencing the issue so he knows it's real. I would imagine some higher ups in the Verizon corporate food chain are using the pixel as well and some are just as likely having issues. This has got to be pretty annoying to all affected by it. We have no doubt a fix is coming, when is the question.

The files are all over the interwebs. I downloaded from a front page story on xda. It does require unlocking the boot loader, not sure if that is possible on the vz version yet or not.

I used skips toolkit to unlock the boot loader, flash the zip, and then relock. It was a smooth process and well worth the effort. Raise and double tap to wake were meant to be included from the start. Both work awesome.

I hope so but all the big shots I know carry iPhones.

Is this with a car Bluetooth? I use my headset at work with no skipping and also in my gf's car. The car is something I bought to add BT since it isn't natively built into hers.

Happens with all my bluetooth devices. I have bluetooth in 2 cars, also an Anker bluetooth speaker and Anker bluetooth headphones. I gets skips on every device.

Google support forums are useless too. Eventually the support guy will say "please try resetting your phone to factory defaults and see if this helps". That's their catch-all solution, like people really want to reset their phone to factory defaults all the time.

Verizon has some minor connectivity issues with the Pixel. With other carriers, especially in Central and South America, there has been no LTE signal at all. I would like to hear from them, and see if they are now able to use their phones?

Hopefully, this LTE issue will be resolved. The Pixel could have been an iPhone like flagship for Google.

We still don't know if it's hardware or software. Time will tell I guess.

This has still only been released in Canada. The only other way to get it is by side loading it. Reading some of the postings with some of our Canadian friends that have experienced lite connectivity issues have stated that they have zero problems with connectivity since the update. That right there tells me that it is all hardware related. Not sure if the blue tooth issues have been ironed out but the connectivity issues have seem to have been resolved. In my opinion, it could still be a flagship device for google as well, as Verizon and google sales are still strong.

Even with the connectivity issues that the iPhone 7 suffered from and did not completely resolve themselves did not stop the millions of people from going with an iPhone 7. Google has billions of dollars, I don't think they are treating this situation lightly. Sure for me and many others it is frustrating, but I would rather know that a permanent fix is coming. This may in turn be the reason that the fix was only issued to Canada right now. This is something that might have to be worked out with the individual carriers as well instead of a one update fixes all type of thing.

I am almost certain that there is a valid reason why the update was not pushed out to everyone all at once.

Google is pushing it out to them. I am sure carriers will play some part especially with the software changes to make sure it is compatible with that particular network. Yes it might be a fix but I am sure carriers have to be included in the loop as of to exactly what was done, especially if this pertains to connectivity issues

For a moment I thought I could get it via the beta program, but the Pixel is not an eligible handset . . . the Pixel has not been my lucky phone . . .
