Pixels display is better than Samsungs Amoleds.

Having compared the two I can categorically say the pixels display is superior.

It's colours are more natural but the main reason is that there is no gap between the glass and display. It makes for gorgeous viewing from all angles.

Galaxy's Amoled in contrast has a sizeable gap, probably about a millimeter between glass and display.

It shows.

The colors are good but the Note 7 viewing experience is, by far, better.

The interesting part is that the Pixels use a Samsung-manufactured OLED display.

I'm not sure what you mean by the gap between the glass and the display since most phones have a fused digitizer + panel assembly. If it's the gap between the glass and the metal frame, yeah, I get ya.

But the Pixel's display is definitely top-notch. Hard to complain about.

Yes but with a sizeable gap between glass and panel. This has evidently implications with sharpness and perhaps other things, such as the colour distortion when not viewed dead straight on.

In addition Pixel could have easily played with colour gamut/white balance etc.. It may be a similar panel but the engine may be pixel.

I am a happy S7E user. Would have said the Galaxy display is great but Pixel have taken it one or two steps higher imho.

And the S8 will a better than the Pixel. And the the Pixel 2 will beat out the S8, and on and on.

That's just what happens in tech. And for me, nothing beats the deep blacks of OLED displays, no matter what phone they appear on.

All we can use is our own eyes. I am not aware of all the technical details. But I agree with the op. I still have my note 7. and still use it around the house. I have held both many times, together ans separate. Yes the n7 is brighter. yes it does show better in direct sun light. but if I didn't have then to compare I wouldn't complain about the pixel xl. I have taken pictures on both and reviewed each pic on both screens. watched the same you tube videos and visited the same sites. each time i preferred the pixel xl. Also although it didn't bother me much when I used it, I am not sure the curved/edge glass helps. I think I also prefer the pixel.

I will say I think it is a step back to not have any buttons below the screen. tI means automatically I need to; wait for the buttons to go away to get full screen and I need to press extra buttons to navigate. I much prefer the size of the note7. The bezels on the pixel dont bother me but not having the extra screen, especially compared to the note7.

If I hadnt had the note7 the bezel or size wouldnt bother me at all. neither would the brightness.

I'm just laughing at the OP....you know Samsung made the pixels display right...and Samsung always calibrate their displays better on Samsung phones...the pixels amoled display is cheaply pasted on and trust me you cannot beat the note 7, S7, or S7 edge displays by any merit and there are several modes to change the color tones to be natural on these devices .....

Enjoy your basic phone with no features....

From Phonearena:
Pixel XL / Note 7
DISPLAY
Physical size 5.5 inches / 5.7 inches
Resolution 1440 x 2560 pixels / 1440 x 2560 pixels
Pixel density 534 ppi / 518 ppi
Technology AMOLED / Super AMOLED
Screen-to-body ratio 71.22 % / 80.94 %

The XL appears to have a slightly newer (and thus slightly higher pixel density) display. About the same as the S7 Edge if someone has one of those to compare with.

The pixel just looks too much like an Iphone on the front and no sd card is what turned me away from that. Plus I'm not sure AT&T my carrier is even getting those anytime soon.

Mod Note: Please do not resort to insulting a user and/or his/her purchasing decision simply because they have a different opinion.

Everyone will have a different opinion based on their experience. That is totally fine. But please do not proceed to insult the user based on that.

There are objective reasons to why the display on the Note is better, but they are also subject to personal and subjective preferences. Maybe someone prefers how the display on the Pixel looks?

I love my Pixel XL and hate Samsung software but having owned recently S7 edge, Note 7 I disagree. While indoors both are good, if you take it outdoors and under direct sunlight Samsung flagship phone screens are much brighter and easier to read. Overall I think Samsung flagship phones screens are still better than Pixel.

But Pixel is overall a better phone 😀
