I have noticed recently on a couple occasions, that the Play Store app is draining the battery at an alarming rate nectar of heavy keep awake.

Anyone face the same issue?

I've not experienced that. However, Android Central Forums is high on my list, but that's just because I'm lurking here more than I should. Try forcing it closed, clearing the cache and then restarting.

Maybe you're downloading large applications. Also, auto-updating applications can cause this problem.

The thing is the tablet was at home while I was away and nothing was downloading. Also, I had turned off everything in the Play Store app settings. Not sure what it was doing keeping the tablet awake...

I wonder why it's keeping the device awake? Which version of the Play Store do you have? I think the most recent is 3.10.9. If you don't have it, I'd download and install it (Download: Latest Google Play Store 3.10.9 With New Post-Install UI, Translate Button, And More).

Does it resolve if you reboot?

Just checked the version.... It is the latest 3.10.9

It doesn't happen every time, so can't confirm if a reboot would fix it.

Clear the cache that will most likely fix it, if not uninstall and reinstall
