Play Store Program Updates Problem

Every time I have program updates available, I can select update all, and the list will change to just show download pending. If I go to settings, apps, google play store, then storage and clear data, the play store apps will start downloading and installing. Is there a fix for this? Or is it something I'll have to live with? Everything else is fine. I'm on 9 (pie) and 1CSAA. I think this issue is since the pie update, but can't swear to it.

You can try force closing the play store see if it helps

No problem ..if that doesn't work for some reason uninstall play store update and update it again can be some weird glitch.

Thanks, I forgot that I did uninstall play store update and then let it update. Between that and the force closing, maybe it will work.

No luck yet. Rebooted and cleared system cache, no help. Forced stop again, no help. Cleared data and the updates downloaded and installed.

So you don't want them to update automatic, you have it set to not Auto update in settings?

It is set to auto update. I just uninstalled play store updates and then let it update play store again. There was one program with an update, clicked on update and it downloaded and installed. The test will be if it will do it twice in a row without my having to clear the data. Thanks for your help so far, looking forward to giving the next status update.

Ok cool..

After my most recent Pie update, the play store was giving me a hard time downloading but then it cleared up. I also force stopped the app and cleared the cache. It is working much better now with Pie than it did with Oreo.

Thanks for that info. With what I have done and what mustang7757 has suggested, maybe there's hope for me yet for my play store updates to work as well as yours.

Over the weekend, there were two instances of updates working without needing to clear the Play Store data, but it just now reverted back to needing the google play store data cleared before the downloads would start.

Try going into settings>Apps>scroll down for pleasy store services>clear cache..if that dont help uninstall the update there and see what happens

That was no improvement. I'm thinking maybe I have to live with it for the time being, and, hopefully, the next update will mysteriously straighten it out.

Thanks for all the ideas and help. Who knows, maybe it will just clear up on its own like it did for skatergirl.

Yeah sorry

Did you also clear cache/data from Download Manager? It's a system app, so when you go to Settings>Apps, you have to tap Menu>Show System to find it.

I hadn't cleared the Download Manager cache/data, but I have now. Then I went to the play store and had eight updates, clicked on update all and it started downloading and installing. We'll see what happens next when there are more updates.

Thanks for this additional possibility.

Hmm. So even after clearing its cache and data again, it still hangs?
