I have verizon Galaxy S5. A week or so ago, the phone/battery started heating up whenever wifi is on, with a huge battery drain at the same time. (Actually drains the battery faster than the original charger can charge.) It will last the entire day if the wifi is left off.
I could not find a solution, so I took a desperate leap and let the phone update to stock Marshmallow. (It didn't help.)
I've cleared the cache, done a full reset, wiped the sd card, and updated the stock apps. I have not added any extra apps yet.
I'm on my home wifi, and I'm ten feet from the router, so it's not signal strength. I've ALWAYS left my S5 wifi on overnight, with wifi "on while sleeping", and it rarely dropped very much by morning.
Could this be the batteries? One battery is almost a year old. One came with the phone when I bought it last year. (I just ordered a new battery, just in case.)
I'm an older guy, so I don't use the phone much, and (prior to the update) I only had a few extra apps on the phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
