I have uploaded all my music to dropbox (thank God). But my music keeps disappearing off of my phone. I didnt realize until last night to what extent. When I went to bed I had over 12 gb of music. When I woke up this morning I only have 8. What could be causing this and how can I stop it? HTC support said they never heard of this and didnt know what to do except a factory reset and that would mean having to re download all 2800 songs from dropbox. Who has time for that? And who knows if that will even correct the problem.

Not a solution I'm afraid but there's a very useful app called Folder Downloader for Dropbox which lets you download in bulk from Dropbox rather than one by one. Will help if you did need to download them again.

Thank you, at least that gives me an option if no one knows a solution.
It just sucks because its a lot of work to make playlists with that many songs and to have them disappear is just frustrating.

Its hard for me to believe the data just disappeared. Its more likely a bug in that app. Try a different music app see if your music reappears. Have you connected the phone to a computer and look through your folders to see if the songs are really gone? You could use a folder explorer app on the phone but connecting it to a computer would be easier. I think it is possible but unlikely that the memory in your phone is faulty. In which case you should get your phone warranted
I haven't yet put music on my phone so I haven't personally seen it. I use Google Music radio so I can listen to any song or I would use spotifi or I buy my music on Amazon or Google so its always in the cloud. I hope I have help. Let us know how it goes.

I have es file explorer and believe me, the music is gone. I have opened every single file on my phone looking for it but its just not there.

Are you exceeding your storage limit on dropbox? Also I recommend Google Play Music to upload your tracks

I second using Google music to upload the tracks to.

Some questions:
-is it the same songs that keep disappearing?
-is it the same amount of songs that disappear? Number of songs or GB
-are they completely downloaded from drop box and disappearing or did you set it to download a certain amount but never saw it finish?

The last question I ask BC I am wondering if for some reason the phone or music app sees it as corrupt data and deletes it for some reason. Or if the download simply times out overnight and drop box simply clears the cache BC if the large size.

OK and maybe, no clue but still a thought, is this music pushing you towards a completely full phone? As in no space left? Maybe something on the phone requires there to be a certain amount if free memory.
Or it could be bad memory.

If you have music and you add it to drop box then that doesn't use your phone storage..

Yes but I believe OP is saying that it is disappearing off of their phone. They backed it up to drop box.

At least that is how I read it, I could be wrong though.

That's correct. Its fine in dropbox. Nothing has disappeared from there. Its music that is already on my phone that disappears. And no its not the same songs that are disappearing. I am no where near my 32gb on my phone. When the 12gb of music was on (before disappearing) i still had 14gb of storage left. I am stumped at this point.

I'm stumped, it doesn't make any sense unless somewhere in the download process something times out which creates a corrupt file. But that still doesn't explain it disappearing.

What if you use your PC as a middle man. Download from drop box to PC then USB to phone. Last resort is a full wipe. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an app that was able to tell you if you have bad memory(hardware failure). Doubt it but you never know.

1. Use Google Music for cloud storage of your music - this issue will disappear.
2. Maybe a sync setting for dropbox is messed up.
3. Drag and drop your music onto your device from your computer.

Not sure what your fascination is with dropbox and music, but there is a free, and easier solution available with Google Music.

Doesn't Google play music use data when u listen to the songs you uploaded to it??

Yes, if you stream. No, if you download it to your phone (push the little "pin" icon). Of course, the download would use data unless on wifi.

Drag and drop doesnt work for me because my computer wont recognize my One for some reason.

Try AirDroid it is what works with my wife's HTC One and her computer. It allows you to transfer files wirelessly.

I'd second this. Airdroid is amazing.

Odd your music is deleting.. I'd backup your stuff and factory reset to see if that fixes it.

Are you using a Mac or PC? If your using a Mac then use Android file transfer.
If your using a PC then you just need to get the proper drivers and make sure
you enable USB storage when you connect the phone to the computer.
